My First Bruce Gig. I don't remember a great deal. I only had the Live Box Set, Tunnel of Love and BITUSA at the time but I still knew the vast amount of the set and vowed to go to the sold out Wembley gig a few days later.

I went to this sell out show without a ticket but managed to get one at about 9pm almost the moment I hit Wembley Way. I then queued all day to get as close as possible. Great day! Light of Day and Twist and Shout rocked and I don't think 'She's the One' has ever sounded as good as on this tour. I was very young and had very little cash in those days but I remember going home and booking a trip to Sheffield for those shows to cure what I now know as the 'Bruce Blues'.

I went to Sheffield for two nights. I queued from nine both days and sat talking to two girls who were students at the Uni and seeing him for the first time. I made the front row both nights (right in the middle) and was pictured in the Sheffield Star newspaper looking up adoringly at him. I mention the girls, because one of them (Gail, I think) sent me a copy of the newspaper. To this day I am indebted. If they are still out there in Bruceworld, thank you x

I went to Sheffield for two nights. I queued from nine and I made the middle of the front row both nights. I was pictured in the Sheffield Star twice looking adoringly at him from the pit. I'm going to post the photos at some point.

A fantastic Bruce set even though it was just for an hour. Pitched up at the stadium for about 9am and was really close to the barrier. It was a long day but he just came on and blew us away and left us wanting more and more.

A strange 14 year hiatus from Bruce gigs after 1988 but boy was I feeling it by now. This was a great E Street night at a smaller venue which always adds to the intensity. I remember Mary's Place being a real stormer this night as it was the first time I'd seen it performed in it's now traditional form.

A special night as it was the first time my best friend Sam and I shared the Bruce experience together. Not the best for sound or the most memorable Bruce gigs for me but the standards are so high.

Made the mistake of taking a mate who mostly talked all the way through this one. A lesson I learnt for the future. As I said for the show the night before, these were not the best for sound or the most memorable gigs for me. In saying that, the standards are so high with Bruce and these were probably still the best concerts I saw all year and I still go to over twenty.

Great to see the man in his home town. I flew over for two of the three nights on this stint. My first time in NYC and a great trip. The first time I saw Rosy come out too! I was told at the time he only did that in Jersey. I'm not sure if that's true as I can't remember seeing it elsewhere before but certainly he has done it outside NYC since.

My all time favourite. Tickets were so sparce and I didn't get one for either night. I queued both nights and about ten minutes before he was due to come on stage on the second night I went for a walk to see if I could beg for a ticket. I bumped into a woman who had a spare ticket in a box by the stage. How lucky! She said she was worried I wasn't a real fan and then two songs in she looked at me and I had tears rolling down my cheeks. I don't know if I'll ever experience again the intensity and intimacy that we shared with him that night. Truly remarkable.

I flew over to Dublin for this one and it wouldn't be my favourite gig. You could see the guys were still feeling around and it was strange not seeing the other E Streeters up there with Bruce. When the band returned later that year (I saw him at Wembley not Dublin) they had really nailed the songs and the set was crazy. These two shows felt a little bit like rehearsals.

I was really looking forward to seeing Bruce in the venue which will go down to many as the one which made him in '75. Strangely I was suppose to go that night with someone who'd been at one of those gigs but he pulled out at the last minute. Not one of the best Bruce gigs (see my comments for The Point show from a few days earlier) but its the smallest venue I've ever seen him at to this day.

As I've said about earlier Seeger Session shows I felt the band took a while to gel on this tour. By the time they came to London second time around it was rockin' big time. Stupendous stuff that left me reeling I'd not come the night before.

Boy what a night. I didn't manage to get a ticket and fortunately managed to get one outside from a lady who I remember wouldn't sell it to me unless I told her my favourite Bruce album. When I said 'Tunnel of Love' she looked confused but realised I was a fan. This was a great night and the only time I've seen Bruce do his 'Santa Claus' act. It especially remember 'Racing in the Street' as it sounded richer than any other time I'd seen it. The Prof was really on form.

As an Arsenal fan, and at the time a season ticket holder for almost twenty years, these two shows were really special. I hoped these shows would warm me to our new home but I've always hated it. For those not aquainted Arsenal (the football club) used to play their matches at a glorious Art Deco Palace a short walk from this stadium. A few months later I gave up my season ticket at Arsenal and have never been back. The shows, the first without Danny, were really great and probably the only enjoyable experience I had at this stadium.

A great show but not my favourite as the sound was very patchy. I was with friends and we went to the mixing desk for the last half where the sound was deeper and clearer. I remember my best mate, who despite being much less likely to blub during a Bruce show, is subsceptable to the odd tear during some songs, kept dry eyed all the way through the show, then through a rousing version of Jungleland. He even managed to get through the sax solo in tact. Then just as the solo finished Bruce went up to The Big Man and gave him a reassuring pat on the back. At that point my mate cracked and tears flowed. Don't ask me why, that moment just got to him.

I should have learned from this experience for the second HRC but I was with friends and just spent the whole time at the back having our own fun. We'd tried to get close but it was full of people chatting so we went to find a place where the sound was good. It was a bit like being at a Bruce Springsteen Disco as most of the time I was just dancing to the songs oblivous to what was happening on the distant stage. When I saw the London Calling DVD I couldn't believe how good a show it was.

After the debacle of the first HRC I really needed this one. I real treat and remember filling up during The RIver. I remember having serious Bruce Blues after this night. It was to be the last time I saw the Big Man. RIP fella!

This was a great gig after serious doubt about the first show without the Big Man. The tribute during 10th Ave was a special moment and I thoroughly enjoyed the show despite there being something missing on stage.

This was the night I nearly lost faith. As with the HRC a few years before I couldn't get a decent spot and spent the whole night listening to people who clearly weren't that interested with what was happening on stage. Pulling the power on him made little difference to me that night. I seriously questioned going again as although I'm sure this was a great show the audience totally ruined it for me. A year later (two days ago) I went to Wembley and queued for the pit. It made such a difference being with true Bruce devotees.

For the first time in 25 years Bruce came back to the National Stadium and for the first time since those shows I got down to the stadium early to queue for the pit. An extraordinary night that ranks as one of the best. Darkness in full and he started the set with songs he usually saves for the finale. After 23 Bruce shows I may have seen my best!
2013-06-30  Hard Rock Calling, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park  London  UK  Details
After the nightmare of the last few this was a welcome surprise. Managed to get really close to the stage without too much bother and it was a great set (full BITUSA) with his Mum and Sis' up on stage. Not quite Wembley but rocking none the less.

Thought Bruce looked a little jaded tonight. It was a hot night in Belfast and I think we all suffered for that. Mind you it gets a 4/5 as I got a 5 song preshow which was worth the trip for alone.
