I went up to my attic yesterday because I thought I had some Bruce stuff in boxes. I found these old reviews. I'll start with the ones from The River Tour UK although I think I have one for the US too.

OK first up EDINBURGH 1981. Bear in mind, this was on the front page. I don't think that has happened since for a music act.

From The Scotsman

The Sunday Standard (now defunct)

And MANCHESTER 81

From the Melody Maker

The Record Mirror

And BRIGHTON 81

The Melody Maker

And I think this was the NME, anyway it's Bruce and Bono from 81

Ok let me know if you want more. I have the London reviews and more stuff from 85 etc.

Excellent reading...cheers Riverdude.

Wonder what happened to that Bono chappie?
Emily Bung: You haven't taken me out for ages
Det Sgt. Bung: Don't exaggerate, we went out a couple of months ago, had a lovely time.
Emily Bung: You call that lovely, that was my poor mother's funeral.
Det Sgt. Bung: Well I enjoyed it!

I wish I did Roy. I've never seen a newspaper reviewof that show (my first). Certainly the music press didn't cover it. Hopefully some geordie has an old newspaper from the time and could scan for on here. Is it possible do you know to access old newspapers from Newcastle? I know that up here you can, but only up to 1950. For some reason they don't let you see anything after that.

I think the oldest is from 1980 on the Part 2 thread.

am so glad I opened this thread. loved reading these and the "yard of superlatives" heaped on Bruce...haha. love how every critic knows they're going to get flamed for being over the top but can't help but write the truth.
