  1. That SNL 57 Channels was confusing and bad. It was so bad I thought he was purposely sabotaging himself because he didn’t really want to be in TV.
  2. I’m not dissing it necessarily, I just don’t find it nearly as enjoyable as I used to. The moaning and wailing on a couple of the songs doesn’t help.
  3. This is interesting. I’ve kind developed the same feeling about Darkness, though I wouldn’t describe them as good, bad, and ugly. I find it a bit disjointed and find I skip more songs on there than I ever thought I would when I listen to it these days. One thing the three older songs have highlighted for me was how much more I enjoyed his old writing style. The songs are more about sharing a story than a point of view.
  4. Am I wrong in assuming that if Bruce does in fact have an album “in the can” it will feature a re-working of Reno?
  5. After a very quick search, this is the best I could find: Bruce has stated that he originally wrote “Rainmaker” about former U.S. President George W. Bush, but of course the obvious comparison is to Donald Trump, who famously came to power as a populist by validating fears that were already present, instilling ones that weren’t, and promising in true rainmaker fashion that he alone could fix it. from this article: https://estreetshuffle.com/index.php/2021/02/12/roll-of-the-dice-rainmaker/
  6. Probably the same thing I would say to any guy I sat next to in a bar. “Hey man, how’s it going? Is this seat taken?” Then I would order a beer and look at the TV.
  7. Well, Bruce himself said that didn’t he? Said he started to write it when Bush was in office but couldn’t finish it until Trump was in office. At least that’s what I remember him saying.
  8. Hmmmmm…….. I guess I really only thought of it figuratively anyway so the actual application never mattered to me. But your interpretation makes sense.
  9. Never thought about it either. But if you bother to think about it, it makes no sense to ride in a car through a mansion.
  10. Agreed. Oh wait, you’re talking about Rainmaker? I assumed you were talking about the Western Stars album.
  11. I like it. I haven’t listened to it in a little while but it’s probably time to give it another spin. I think it’s probably a middling album that sounds better to me than it really is because of the turd of an album it followed. Contrary to some others, I really like Rainmaker. Not sure what the issue is with it, but tastes vary.
  12. 880 small points away until you are…… ultra experienced? Just plain old? Either way, congratulations!!!
  13. I didn’t move to New Jersey until 1976…… when I was 4. Not that my father didn’t bring along to a bar or two with him at that age, but we weren’t making the club scene by any means. Left Jersey in ‘97 to work at a summer camp in Appalachian Kentucky. Ended up committing to be a full time volunteer there for two full years, met my wife, and have never left. Hard to believe I’ve live in Kentucky longer than I lived in Jersey but it’s true.
  14. By no means am I saying what I heard is true, just sharing what I was told a few times. Every time a big house was being built in my town the rumor was that it was Springsteen building it. There are all kinds of rumors about him around there.
  15. Which is (at least was 24 years ago when I left Jersey) next to Leggetts Sandbar, where I worked for one summer. Rumor in Manasquan that I was told more than once was that Kittie’s Back was about the owner of the Osprey. FWIW.
  16. Good point. Nobody will ever guess he’s in his 70s if he has obviously dyed hair.
  17. No, his music just makes my ears bleed. At least Manilow’s music can exist in the background, unnoticeable unless you focus on it.
  18. Yikes, another tough call. Honestly, I’d take Manilow. Now please give me a moment while I shotgun a bottle of grain alcohol to try to wash that statement from my brain.
  19. Man, that’s a tough call. I would probably take that money to attend. If you made me watch and listen, that’d probably be a deal breaker.
  20. I can hear “My Love Will Not Let You Down” somewhere in there. I listened to the album driving around town today. Didn’t think much of it, to be honest. Sounded like something I might like if I gave it more listens but I don’t know if I will.
  21. Absolutely, it’s disgusting to see. My second oldest daughter played soccer in high school for 4 years. My youngest is entering high school in a couple of weeks just tried out for the same team. She got cut. I was sad for her (though she doesn’t seem so heartbroken about it) but happy for me because I sat in the stands for 4 years with parents thinking they were the ones in the field. It was obnoxious and embarrassing, so I typically wouldn’t sit with them.
  22. I actually banned my father from coming to my baseball games in high school. What the hell did he know about baseball (other than playing in the minors for the Giants)? Sadly, I didn’t realize it was a selfish thing to do until I became a father myself.
  23. I would agree with you in general that it’s a shame the parents of the vast majority of competitors can’t be there. But on the other hand, it’s good for some of these competitors to get a chance to compete without thinking about their parents in the stands watching them.
  24. Might as well just have Phil Collins out there with him to duet on Real Man to finish the show.
