  1. You can read his thoughts on the verdict here https://jodyredmires.com
  2. Watched this last night. Great film. Dunno which facts they fabricated, but either way he carried some burdens with him I'd say.
  3. I love the Song of Ice and Fire books. My eldest read them some years back and passed them on to me. Currently reading 'Falling & Laughing- the restoration of Edwin Collins', and also Roddy Doyle's 'Two More Pints'
  4. Sticking with Roddy Doyle at the moment as there's a few of his books I've missed in the past few years. Just finished Two Pints which is a series of conversations between 2 Irish chaps in the pub. It's topical for when it's written and a little Irish-centric but I think most folks would get most of the gist. Needless to say it's absolutely hilarious. Just over a page a chapter and the length of a long-short story :-)
  5. I've just finished The Guts by Roddy Doyle. It's the full novel follow up to The Commitments (he did a short-story follow up called 'The Deportees some years back). The Guts is hilarious. I read it in 2 sittings and despite it's background story of Jimmy Rabbitt's fight with bowel cancer - I rolled about laughing throughout. Very good 'feel good' book. Currently reading Bono by Mick Wall.
  6. Off to see Joe Carnall & Friends at the Leadmill tonight so getting in the mood with a bit of Milburn
  7. Enjoyed this one. Her characters are complex, likeable and not. Did you read The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox? One of my favorite books. Didn't see the end coming at all in that one. Heatwave was the first time I've come across O'Farrell. It came up as a recommendation on my android and I downloaded it on a whim. Will check the other out though thanks. Currently reading Morrisey's Autobiography. Struggling with the 'no paragraph' format. It's doing me head in.
  8. Instructions for a Heatwave - Maggie O'Farrell Good story - family living in London during the summer of 1976(I remember it well - scorcher), kids all grown up with their various problems. Father goes missing. Where can he be? Enjoying it a lot
  9. Home - Amsterdam Veinte Anos - Buena Vista Social Club Don't Look Back - Fine Young Cannibals Because You're Mine - Dr Feelgood Bogus Official - Half Man Half Biscuit
  10. We were looking for something to watch last night and came across Django Unchained, so decided to watch it. Husband is a Tarantino fan, but I'd not seen any of his films before, Absolutely loved it. Watched Jackie Brown tonight, not so heavy on the laughs as Django, but still very good.
  11. My old creative zen bit the dust long ago so doing a shuffle on me lappy with the bits of music I have on here. This better be good - Fountains of Wayne Strawberry Flats - Little Feat Fall - Jesus & Mary Chain Please don't rock me tonight - Fountains of Wayne Stop, Stop - Black Keys
  12. Thanks ladies. I'd better drop them an email then. Edit: Always check which email address you've registered with first. Doh!
  13. Can I just ask if folks got a confirmation email from Badlands after they had placed their order? I know its usual practice but I haven't received one so just wondering it its a wrinkle in the system, or they didnt get my order. I did have problems logging into my new account initially, but the order went through in the end and I'm getting their mailing list through ok. Just to put my mind at rest before I go asking them direct. Thanks peeps.
  14. I hope that's a joke. Waiting all summer for him to dump this cheesy song. Yeah I was being facetious.
