  1. I LOATHE rock stars doing Christmas songs. An whole album from Bruce would be an absolute travesty and hideous in my opinion. He's NOT (yet) a crooner. Leave the schmaltz to them. From Bruce?, no thanks. NOT in a ZILLION years would I buy/stream/listen to it. I have heard ONCE his take on Santa Claus is Coming to Town. THAT was one too many times.
  2. I REALLY cannot decide. I love the new sound and the sweep of Western Stars I love the old sound and immediacy of Letter to You. Right now I play LTY far more, daily, apart from Power of Prayer which I've grown to HATE. I play Western Stars more than a few times a week still, apart from Smoky Joes Cafe which has always stuck out like a sore thumb to me... ...ask me in 6 months though.
  3. The ONLY song that had not immediately grabbed me is I’ll See you in My Dreams. Don’t know about this one. A bit like a working on a Dream outtake. And, I really like Power of Prayer, but don’t LOVE IT. THE OTHER TEN tracks though, they’re just top shelf Bruce material. And recorded so SO well. This is how Bruce and the Band MUST record, always, in the future. Please. Bruce’s voice is just beautiful throughout too. I knew it would be from my first hearings of Letter to You, the song. Just his Roy Orbison stylings on “true” and “blue”...I knew he’d found a new voice. Wonderful. Outstanding, and a simply great companion and complement to Western Stars. Those two albums, added together, have bought a relatively recent wealth of beautiful new Bruce material to us. Thanks Bruce.
  4. My Nanna, who had lived with my mum, dad and I since I was born, passed away after a rather long and exhausting illness late in 1995 when I was 41yo. The Ghost of Tom Joad would hardly have been thought of as music to grieve by/with, yet that album comforted me immeasurably through the rest of 1995 and 1996, a year I’d rather have forgotten. I was lucky in that I ran my own office. I played the album constantly for about a year or more! My staff, bless them, knew what and how that music was getting me through those times, they not once complained . When the bootlegs appeared through ‘96 and I heard how the songs came alive on stage, that helped lift me too. They got played in high rotation in my office too. When I caught the shows in Sydney at the Capital Theatre in February 1997, I sobbed uncontrollably for much of the shows, but I was crying in happiness. Somehow the album, the bootlegs and the shows combined to keep me sane, to lift my spirits and to honour my nanna. It’s an album, and a related time, that I hold dear for a myriad of reasons.
  5. So I went searching for this as soon as I heard about the leak ..all I could find were a cpl of songs that isolated the vocals. Not the full record. So now I just wait and read the official and the fan reviews. Overall, it sounds like it’s going to be just fine...
  6. If Trump gets voted in again it would be a)unfortunate, b)inexplicable and c)unforgivable. I get him NOT being a 'politician' is his appeal and a reason so many vote for him But HIM? Surely there are other NON-Politicians in the US who are honest, compassionate and honourable that could appeal? But HIM? He has taken so many in and to the cleaners with his Chapter 11s, he cares about nobody (except a few of his family), he only cares about MONEY and he lives in his own, self created, alternate universe. I LOVE the way he bags out everyone who LEAVES the White House as not being very capable, able or any good! HE HIRES THEM to start with. What does that tell you about him? He is loathsome.
  7. Tehran, new spy mini series on Apple TV+, is so much better than The Morning Show
  8. Wasn’t a tour as such but he did quite a lot of shows on Broadway post-Trump’s unfortunate election in 2016. Unless I am mistaken, Broadway is in the US.
  9. I am the opposite. I much prefer LTY, it’s mature and majestic. There’s something a bit off with Ghosts. The tone of the guitar is a bit grating. The ‘shouted”, abrupt vocals. And it reminds me of Sing This All Together by the Stones on Satanic Majesties. The last couple of minutes anyways.
  10. Ain’t read the whole thread but I hear a lot of The Stones Sing this All Together (off the abysmal Satanic Majesties album) in this song, especially in the last couple minutes. It’s the phrasing...I MUCH prefer Letter to You.
  11. I LOVE it. I reckon, looking at the full track listing, the album is going to be about mortality. I "spoke" briefly by words to Ron Anielllo on Instagram about it last night - or rather he kindly 'spoke' to me after we had had intermittent messages over past 2 months or so where I was teasing him, and pleading for info...he kept mum though obviously as I knew he would until it was out! I think the sound of the single is lovely, throws back all the way sound wise to The River for me. And the song itself sounds like a mix of the songs Lucky Town, Western Stars and Long Walk Home to me. I just hope, on CD at least, it's not compressed like Magic, an album of great songs spoiled by it's "shrill loudness", on CD. Much better on vinyl.
  12. Just to be clear....THIS ALARMS you? It's a VERY minor thing with the way of the world Daisy, isn't it? Hardly "alarming", just silly, surely?
  13. I thought you thought you were in the thread about Bruce's threads. Levis, or....?
  14. May be in great shape, but, ahem...., at her age, she looks just ridiculously like a pantomime of her young self when she's on stage now. I actually squirm at the very sight of her acting out her youth in the type of garb usually associated with Rhianna or any of the other 20-30 yo female artists who feel they have to have as little on as possible to be relevant. Can't any of them make it without just relying on their talent?
  15. ended up just getting one on discogs for about AUD66 shipped from the US. Don't know why I have to have it but I do. Can't understand, still, why/how this happened and why it's not a semi-valuable collector item. But with the number on discogs at low-low prices, it sure ain't!
  16. A/ How WAS it that on the original Born to Run vinyl LP Jon Landau's name, on the back cover, was mis-spelled as John Landau? What a mistake! B/ How many were pressed and printed before the error was realised? C/ How many 'got out' without the sticker being placed over John as Jon? D/ Are they worth anything without the sticker? Surely collectors would want them? E/ About to start looking.... Tks Rod
  17. I have just heard from a friend that there will be 2 shows in Perth "late 2020". And it's also been on radio here...trying to find out more
  18. Tkts purchased for Sun 8 Dec 3.30pm session at Readings Cinema Belmont, Perth
  19. Per title of your thread, IS this an official live release?
  20. Seriously, you're need to commentate and opine on everybody else comments is just too much.In such a short space of time you appear to have taken over this board...I have to block you. I hope I can. Sorry.
  21. EXTRAORDINARY post mate. And some perfect, valid and wonderfully delivered observations and reflections.
