  1. I really don't know why so many people are complaining about this....the "sound" is very similar to something that would have been on Wrecking Ball. To me, it sounds great. Bruce's voice sounds better than it did on Wrecking Ball and Tom's parts are great.

For me, it's not about the sound. Wrecking Ball is without any doubt one of his best albums. It's about the song - it's not good. And it has nothing to do with my not wanting Bruce to become innovative or modern (no nostalgia here) but I just don't see any point in RE-RECORDING A COVER SONG, which in my opinion is not even good enough to be part of his catalog. As someone else wrote: it's a toilet break song if played live at a show (would rather stay for "Sunny Day" than this). Please don't crucify me but that's how I feel about it. And I'm fully aware that we should be grateful for everything he releases but I'd like to see him put out his own material or a cover we don't yet have a studio recording of (like Trapped).

He re-recorded it because HE likes it. I don't think there needs to be any other reason.

With that attitude we might as well close the site never mind the thread

Why? You can still talk about how much you like or dislike it but if you're wondering why he re-recorded I'm pretty sure that'll be your answer right there.

  3. Some of you people are clueless. What would be the point of releasing a EP at this stage? The man has enough material for several albums, but he is trying something new he hasn't done before this time around...

Like he would tour in places like Australia and South-Africa as one-offs with out trying to sell an album? You're kidding, right?

Most of you will be eating your hat in a couple of days.

    You seem nice.

  4. Let's all try to calm down here.

Bottom line, here's what we know for absolute certain:

    • Multiple websites indicating a new "single" release for November 25th.
    • Bruce recently released (through spotify and youtube) a studio recording of "Dream Baby Dream"

And here are the strongest rumors that have been floating around:

    • Bruce has an album coming out in January

(Somewhat supported by his studio time in Australia, and recent interviews with Jake. Somewhat disproved by SVZ comments)

    • Bruce is going to announce a new tour/album in late November

And here is the rest of whatever is floating around:

    • The album might be a cover album
    • The album might be guitar heavy, featuring Tom Morello
    • The album might just be an EP
    • The album might be a tour-highlights collection
    • The album might be recorded entirely with flutes

So I mean, we have surprisingly very little concrete knowledge so far to get worked up about. You know? All I know is that Bruce has yet to disappoint me with an album as a whole, so I'm not going to freak out whether or not High Hopes is in fact a single from his next album-to-be. And even if I had been disappointed, and I didn't like the song... Who cares? Guys, it's a new Bruce album.

    Solid summary.

  5. I can't believe it's finally the end of the Wrecking Ball tour, it seemed to go on for ever! Little did I know when I changed my name to Janice Wrecking Ball that I would be stuck with it for so long ;) Just on Facebook that is, I didn't change it by deed poll or anything, that would be weird.

It seems strange to be just Ball now

    It's been a great tour

It'll be even weirder when you change your name to AustralianTourBall.

  6. DVD is definitely an option.

I doubt they would fly a journalist from Aus to Ireland to promote a tour DVD given how little they have marketed precious tour DVDs and we are still waiting for most of the tours to release a DVD.

I think Nov/Dec is a bit soon but on the other hand it could make perfect sense for them to do that and then Steve gets to film in Jan/Feb, leaving March/April for the US and then May/June/July for Europe.

Bruce made it clear in Kilkenny he was only taking a short break.

Who said they would fly a journo over for a DVD release? I'd assume the story would incorporate a DVD release and return visit.
