    Nice review!

Although it may not be accurate to say that Reagan was desperate for votes in 1984… he carried 49 of 50 states and won the popular vote 59%-41%…B)

    Thanks for checking it out!

That's a fair point in regards to Reagan, although I'll stand by what I wrote because surely a politician is always looking for every single vote from every single person.

Not to turn this into a discussion on politics, of course, I'd bore myself out of my own thread hahaha!

    Sorry I didn't see this.

Dallas is a canny few plays away yet, but hopefully I'll get to it sooner rather than later. Although I'm tempted to say the opposite where it concerns hearing those shenanigans hahaha.

Lol.  Did he actually have a ticket and go in on time? One of my favorite memories of Rich is that he went to a lot of shows without a ticket.  Then he’d play a game with the scalpers. He’d find a couple of scalpers with good tickets but he wouldn’t pay them what they wanted.  Instead, he would wait until the show started, and one or 2 songs in, he’d get a great ticket from a scalper for next to nothing.

Every time, it made me feel bad to leave him in the parking lot when the rest of us would go into the show.  And every single time, I’d get a text from him just a couple of songs into the show, letting me know he found a great seat for under face value.

Having read this and other things said about him on here this weekend and over the years, Rich seemed like the soundest, funniest Springsteen fan of all time.

I know for sure it would have been class to have talked with him on here.

very nice to see Bruce at the memorial

an appropriate place for a suit and a very appropriate lovelly new song

    i can't beleave its been 20 years

i dont think anyone who was alive that day will ever forget the shear terror of it and then the personal tragedies

love to all the family and freinds of all the people who lost loved ones, the fire dept, the police

love always to NYC and  America

Thanks Daisey, glad you liked it!

I was only four years old in 2001 and have no memory of the day, so I can't speak for that feeling of dread at the time, but I will add to your thoughts, prayers, love and whatever else is possible to everyone impacted by it.

God forbid he never plays another song with the E Street Band this would be a beautiful closing chapter to an amazing musical legacy. So moved this song was part of this day. An American Treasure who sadly, because of stupid american politics , is more universally loved in other parts of the world now than he is in his own country.

Completely agree with every word mate.

I'm sharing this in the usual places, and I'll just hoy it in this reply. I wrote a few words on this appearance.

I think you mean thirty years...?

I did. Thanks for the keeping me right!

Next week I'm hoping to be writing about Archive #71, and the week after that we'll jump into The River Tour 2016, but until then it's all about those roses in the Kansas City rain.

The view of the slaughter inflicted by the US, which is just the tip of the iceberg (and the corresponding destruction of the country), expressed by Ulfhpersson, is shared by most of the world. Maybe an alternative view amongst some, but accepted by most as the heinous reality it was/is.

Good point. Honestly I said that as it seemed to differ to the rest of the tone within the thread. Personally, I don't want this to drift into a discussion of the war itself.

  13. So this is a bit of a random one, but for the last three years I've been bothered by my review of November 19th, 2007. I've always felt it was overly short and not informative enough, and for a long time considered writing something like a new "Archive revisited" post about it and publishing it. I haven't done that, but today I settled on just doing a little editing of what I wrote in April 2018.

I've intertwined a few excerpts I included in my definitive songs posts and cleaned up the structuring to hopefully make it a more interesting, time worthy read.

I know one goal of this blogging was to get better at writing and look back on older posts to see just how much I'd improved, but without wanting to sound big-headed, I feel these Archive Series reviews have become 'more' than just a vehicle for me to see if I've become a better writer.

I hope you enjoy this, if it's of interest to you tonight, and I'll be back... tomorrow with a new Retro E Street Review.

well, i am old enough, to look on this kinds of Mr. Springsteens concerts differently. None of these concerts do show solidarity to those who are the victims, i.e. the Vietnam population.  It is very strange, to hear Mr. Springsteen show this kind of solidarity with the US soldiers, that attacked an innocent country, and killed more than 3 milion people. and, I cite:

"German historian Bernd Greiner mentions the following war crimes reported and/or investigated by the Peers Commission and the Vietnam War Crimes Working Group, among other sources:[41]

Seven massacres officially confirmed by the American side. My Lai (4) and My Khe (4) (collectively the My Lai Massacre) claimed the largest number of victims with 420 and 90 respectively, and in five other places a total of about 100 civilians were executed.

Two further massacres were reported by soldiers who had taken part in them, one north of Đức Pho in Quảng Ngãi Province in the summer of 1968 (14 victims), another in Bình Định Province on 20 July 1969 (25 victims).[citation needed]

Tiger Force, a special operations force, probably murdered hundreds of civilians during a 6 month period in 1967.[42]"

And even if I am aware of, that the poor and black people in USA had to go, well I can see no reason to hail those people and the crimes they committed. And to see and hear Mr. Springsteen, not respecting the "yellow man", but giving their oppressors his regards, is for an old man who lived through all these years, seeing the pictures of the napalmbomed children, as awful as heartbreaking.

Always good to read an alternative view. Thanks for sharing!
