Lifted from a previous post I'd done on the subject: Since they moved over to Colts Neck (they've owned much of the land since the 1990s, but had substantial work done in the early 2000s, gradually moving there by the end of the decade) Bruce had the state-of-the-art, very large studio built in the grounds. This is the truth - I dunno about the hair of the dog bit - but he'd been out on the town with Morello/Vedder the night before and referenced having only woken up an hour ago His voice was very rough during BitUSA opener and he made several mistakes - missing the intro in Roulette - and something went amiss during Lucky Town. The show was very long, one of the longest ever, but also featured lots of long, storytelling segments. Bruce was clearly unhappy with how it sounded. A rare misstep.
  3. That Sunrise version is indeed superb. A great example of latter day Bruce as a bandleader. Calling out the solos then, off-the-cuff, working out a cool breakdown at the end with the horns. Bruce high energy, spontaneous, young-looking. All of the things that were great about the 2012-2014 tour. The 2016 version from NYC is pedestrian in comparison, in large part because of how much Bruce had aged in the intervening two years. Much slower, less spontaneous, less engaged.   6. I wondered if this has started to manifest itself more recently. Up until the RIR Lisbon show in 2016, Bruce had his monitors under the stage. During that show (a festival, so it's not his stage) the monitors were on-stage. In an interview with his FOH team a few years back, Bruce told them how much having them on-stage improved his ability to hear them. In every show since, the monitors were on-stage instead of under the stage. Have a look for yourself. I've assumed this is because his hearing deteriorated and, also, because the shows in 2016 involved much less movement/physicality
  7. It certainly wasn't something either party shouted about, but it was raised on BTX a year or so back and isn't news to anybody who closely follows camp Springsteen.
  8. Bruce has obviously had various home studios over the years, going back to the late 70s. Albums like Tunnel of Love/Ghost of Tom Joad had large parts recorded at studios at his various houses on both the East/West coast. His house in LA and the house they lived in in Rumson whilst the kids were growing up had decent mini-studios.
