WRECKING BALL album....and related

Recommended Posts

Portland would have sold out before it became a city full of hipster douchebags.

"Oh man, a concert at the Rose Garden? Not indie enough for me..."

Bruce sold a similar number of tickets in Portland in both 2008 and 2002. I think the reunion tour show in 2000 was the last time he sold out a show there.

It wasn't as hipster back in 2000 like it is now.

CANADA..........Top-10 best selling albums of 2012 (official Soundscan Canada list and sales below).....Soundscan's full list is a Top-100 - but it seems only the top-10 info is circulating.

To make matters quite confusing - there is another, different, "2012 Year-End" list that has been released by Billboard Canada ("Wrecking Ball" is #54 on that list). While Billboard's list uses Soundscan's sales data, the Billboard rankings are for the 12-month tabulation period Dec 2011 thru Nov 2012.....whereas the official Soundscan list is for the true calendar year tabulation period (Jan 2012 thru Dec 2012). Consequently there are significant differences between the two lists in terms of rankings.

Rank....Album......Artist..................................Retail Sales (Jan 2012 thru Dec 2012)

01...21...Adele......................................................457,000............+ "21" was #1 the previous year (938,000 sold in 2011)

02...Red...Taylor Swift..........................................240,000

03...Up All Night...One Direction..........................234,000

04...Babel...Mumford & Sons...............................212,000

05...Sans Attendre...Celine Dion..........................209,000

06...Home....One Direction...................................184,000

07...Believe...Justin Bieber...................................179,000

08...Star Academie 2012...Various Artists............156,000

09...Rod Stewart....Merry Christmas Baby...........135,000

10...Old Ideas...Leonard Cohen...........................132,000

"Wrecking Ball" has come in at #54 on Billboard's unofficial list.....but on the official Soundscan list it is likely "Wrecking Ball" has ended somewhere in the #40 - #50 range....hopefully the full Soundscan rankings will be released, instead of just their Top-10 (above).

Some Tour/Sales-related news from AUSTRALIA.........

Springsteen's new compilation Lp, 'Collection: 1973 - 2012', has jumped up in the Australian sales chart from #15 in Week-1 to #8 in Week-2. In New Zealand the album rises from #30 to #24.

Springsteen has placed 4 albums in the Top-102 this week in Australia...he's getting a nice tour bounce.

008.....Collection: 1973-2012...........approx 4,000 sales

016.....Wrecking Ball....................................2,000

041.....Born In The USA..................................850

102.....Essential...............................................400

Springsteen's "Wrecking Ball' album was certifed GOLD (35,000+) in Australia a couple of weeks ago.....last week his music video "Live In Hyde Park" was up-certified from Gold to PLATINUM (15,000+).

For those that aren't aware....the 'Collection: 1973-2012' album, although currently released only in Australia and New Zealand, is scheduled to be released in Germany on April 12...and may very well recieve a wider release than just OZ-NZ-Germany...stay tuned.

"Wrecking Ball" had Soundscanned 490,171 thru Dec 31, 2012 in the USA. No more recent soundscan figure has leaked but by now it'll definitely be over 500,000 retail (I'd guess around 505k-510k retail)...probably close to 550k wholesale (the cert, of course, being based on wholesale). So it's just a matter of Sony/Columbia applying to the RIAA for the cert. They (Springsteen camp) probably don't have it as a priority task. It could happen tomorrow - or it could be months.

I just know, my hero has sold lots of records,he's not ever going to worry about his gas bill.

It gives me an enormous ( massive) amount of comfort knowing that tomorrow, when i get my gas bill...I'll not give a fuck..BADLANDS

I'd like to thank Earthslayer for this wonderful thread. I've been following this from the beginning.

How is the Wrecking Ball album doing on the European charts right now. Has it re-entered the Swedish or Norwegian charts for example? Do you think that the sales info on the first page is up to date at the moment?

"Wrecking Ball" album has been getting a small sales bounce in Europe, nothing significant though.

Yes, the 'Wrecking Ball' totals on PG-1 of this thread are up to date. Album has sold around 1.51 million (retail) to date, give or take 50k.

The 'Wrecking Ball' album is now very close to Double Platinum (PLAT x 2) in Ireland, in fact it might already have passed it - maybe there will be some further info about that when the current tour reaches Ireland.
