WRECKING BALL album....and related

Recommended Posts

NZ 1,700 units ....(i only brought two)

still...

...not bad considering we didn't get the tour

and as far as i can tell Sony had given 'collection' zero publisity -

probably too busy with promoting crap like the X-factor

UPDATES.........

..................'Collection: 1973-2012' has opened at #2 in IRELAND. The album also premiers this week in a few other countries...CROATIA, HUNGARY and CZECH REPUBLC....but has failed to make their respective main charts. However in Croatia the album did manage #23 in the Foreign Artists sub-chart, which is outside the Top-50 in the main (All Artists) chart.

It appears 'Collection 1973-2012' will premier in next week's UK Chart....either that or it has bombed and failed to make the UK Top-100 this week. Interestingly Springsteen's 2003 'Essential' album has re-entered the UK Chart this week quite high - at #15

I don't think the collection has been issued in the UK, instead they have re-promoted the Essential album.

I don't know much (at all) about the financial end of the record business, but it seem to me that the cost of actually producing this album would be about nothing since the material was already recorded. It seems like, given that, being able to sell about 100,000 copies of a record with the only real promotion being a tour that's already going on is probably a pretty good deal for both the artist and the record company. Seems impressive, to my untrained eye at least.

Was hoping the new Collection: 1973-2012 album would end up number one just 'cause...oh well. I think it was number 2 earlier, and given that it's all already-available stuff, that strikes me as quite good.

Springsteen placing 12 albums within the Top-85 of the Irish Album Chart in the same week.....I'd need to research it to be 100% sure but I suspect "12 within the Top-85" ranks 2nd or 3rd (depending on how one looks at it) all-time to the two below-noted Irish album chart feats by U2.

U2.....12 albums within the Top-60 during a week in Sep 2001

U2.....11 albums within the Top-70 during a week in Jul 2005

Hi Earthslayer

do U have the boxoffices number for Hard Rock Calling?

I haven't seen the Hard Rock Calling gig among Billboard's Boxscores yet. Maybe it'll turn up next week.

Springsteen's UK 'Hard Rock Calling' show stats have just been released by Billboard Boxscore...plus 3 of the South American gigs
