What's the last film you sat & watched?

Watched London down on tv last night

Don't really like movies like that especially post 9-11

It was fast passed and easy to follow but too much carnage

I don't like seeing London look like that any more than i like to see New York like that

I'm surprised there's not a topic like this. Anyway... Moonrise Kingdom.

Finally saw Three Billboards this weekend. Excellent flick!   I have never seen Frances McDormand be any less than outstanding, in any role she assumes.

We watched Angel Has Fallen.  Same Gerad Butler character. Absolutely terrible film, featuring a storyline making the FBI and other government protective services as the most inept group of folks ever.

With that said it's just mindless way to waste 2 hours.

Also watched Just Mercy with Michael B Jordan and Jamie Foxx. Pretty good film, but a better real life story. Obviously a film for our current time. Its streaming free right now on Prime and Netflix I think.

The Big Chill.

A movie that has some flaws for sure, but has always been a great watch to me. Obviously one of the great soundtracks ever, with great use of song and scene. I'm a sucker for a movie that I can insert myself into, meaning I can see my friends and I as the cast of the film.

Sometimes the best movies are delightful unexspected surprises you just stumble across with zero expectations

This was wonderful

Lesbian and gays for the minners

Kind of in the vein of Billy Elliot, and Calender girls*

Really really enjoyable

One person really can make a difference

At the very end of the movie who would have thought the labour party could have brought a happy tear to my eye

I watched this last night too, for the first time. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

And I've just finished watching James Cameron's The Abyss about an hour ago. That was excellent as well!

My first ever experience of a drive in movie yesterday evening - La La Land at Warwick Castle. I had seen the film before (twice) so knew I would enjoy it, but the experience of the drive in was good fun. Will definitely give it another go.

Finally got around to watching and finishing Scorsese's The Colour of Money these past two nights. A tremendous watch. Newman is cool as ice, Cruise excels as a little dickhead, and Mastrantonio is so much more than simply "Vince's girlfriend" - she might actually be the glue of the entire film.

I love GoodfellasCasino, Raging Bull and the rest of the usual suspects, but I do really enjoy these Scorsese films that don't feel like Scorsese films (I think The Last Temptation of Christ and The King of Comedy fit into this category alongside Money) as they highlight even more just how good a filmmaker he is when he's not 'recycling' his usual template of Wise Guys doing Wise Guy things.

Anyway it's past 2am now, so I'm gonna try and get a few listens of Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London" in now before calling it a night!

Honestly,  it's not one film. It's several. I've just finished watching the new Blu-ray set titled Laurel & Hardy: The Essential Restorations. It's a four Blu-ray set (or six DVD set) made up of two L & H feature films (Sons of the Desert and Way Out West)  and 17 short films (The Music Box, Helpmates, The Midnight Patrol, Hog Wild, and more). It's a fun collection, that also includes eight hours of special features, which is over 2,500 images of  L & H still photographs, posters from around the world, scripts, and more. It also contains, for the first time on video, The Battle of the Century, which has the largest pie fight in movie history.

I wrote a web article/review last week about the set. The link is here: Link to review of Laurel & Hardy: The Definitive Restorations

Being in between series, I thought I'd watch a film last night.  I chose Gone Girl (haven't read the book).
Fell asleep after half an hour.  -_-
Is it worth going back to?

I remember watching that and I managed to watch it all so it must have been ok.
