HIGH HOPES - Released soon ???

Recommended Posts

I think the Traks 2 material is going to be digital only. Followed by the new record in Jan. And there is a new record. 100%

You keep on saying you're 100% certain. How are you, what's your source?

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN REPORTEDLY READYING NEW SINGLE
Bruce-Springsteen1.jpg
After laying low for much of the ’90s, Bruce Springsteen has spent the past decade recording at a relatively torrid pace, releasing six albums between 2002 and 2012. And while touring commitments kept him out of the studio for much of 2013, recent rumors suggest we could be getting another new album sometime in the next few months.
The details are admittedly sketchy at this point, but the story got started courtesy of the Danish music site Wimp, where a listing for a new Springsteen single titled ‘High Hopes’ showed up on the release schedule for Nov. 19.
As many Springsteen fans are already aware, ‘High Hopes’ isn’t a new addition to the Boss’s catalog; in fact, it’s been kicking around at least since the mid-’90s, when it first surfaced on his 1996 ‘Blood Brothers’ EP. But Springsteen’s clearly not averse to re-recording older material, as he’s done on a couple of occasions with recent records, and given that ‘High Hopes’ made its live debut on his most recent tour, it stands to reason that he might have felt the urge to give the song another go in the studio.
Whether or not the ‘High Hopes’ rumor turns out to be true, we do know Springsteen’s been in the studio recently. “We’ve never had a recording session during a tour in our lives,” he admitted earlier this year, but added that the addition of Tom Morello to the band lineup added a new layer of excitement. “We did a couple of things that I wanted to put down. So that was very exciting. And being with Tommy was exciting. The band — Steven, Nils, all those guys — continues to be a source of inspiration for me.”

Some rumors in the twittersphere that this Tracks-style album would be the January release, and perhaps another studio album in the fall.

I don't know about you guys, but get so giddy about all these rumors. Don't understand the hate.

Bruce Springsteen is releasing a new single, "High Hopes," on November 25th, according to Sony Music Germany's website — though Springsteen's reps aren't confirming the information. He originally recorded the cover song during 1995's brief E Street Band reunion and released it on the hard-to-find Blood Brothers EP. He resurrected it onstage in March when he toured Australia with guitarist Tom Morello (who was subbing for Steve Van Zandt), right around the time they went into a Sydney recording studio together.

"We've never had a recording session during a tour in our lives," Springsteen told Rolling Stone. "We did a couple of things that I wanted to put down. So that was very exciting. And being with Tommy was exciting. The band – Steven, Nils, all those guys – continues to be a source of inspiration for me."

"High Hopes" was written by Tom Scott McConnell in 1987. Three years later he re-recorded it with his band the Havalinas.

Springsteen and the E Street Band begin a new tour in January with a series of dates in South Africa and Australia. It's unclear whether or not "High Hopes" is part of an upcoming album.

A rep for Springsteen cautioned that the info on the website is "not correct," but didn't elaborate.

BD - this may force Springsteen Inc to issue an announcement of their own.

Well, I doubt. If something is really released in January, the press release would been issued on tomorrow or next tuesday anyway.

And that's the reason of today's rumors. Nobody is revealing nothing.

I love the version of High Hopes on the Blood Brothers and love this version even more..so I for one hope the rumours are true and that this is released with either a new album or tracks style boxset to follow

I kinda just made an assumption about the horns myself, thinking they'll be there for sure. If true, I'm so down coz I already love the tune to begin with. We'll have great lyrics, great melody and horns. Mabye.

He is re-releasing it, I can't see him going with the same formula.
