Gigs 2015

Recommended Posts

Right then, almost frightened to post three of them just in case I'm tempting fate and the world ends or something, but......

25th January - Nils Lofgren, Gateshead Sage

27th January - John Mellencamp, Nashville

28th January - John Mellencamp, Nashville

31st January - Bob Seger, Atlanta

27th February, The War on Drugs, Newcastle

23rd April, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hammersmith

17th June - Fleetwood Mac, The Hydro, Glasgow

So, you're managing to get back to the good ol' South, Mr G? (No, not London!).

Good on ya.

Feb. 10 - Robert Earl Keen - Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Mar. 8 - Dropkick Murphys - Irving Plaza, NYC

Apr. 6 - The Decemberists - Beacon Theater, NYC

Apr. 11 - Stars - Webster Hall, NYC

May 26 - The Who - Barclays Center, Brooklyn

July 16 - Foo Figthers - Citi Field, Queens

July 18 - U2 - Madison Square Garden, NYC

July 23 - U2 - Madison Square Garden, NYC

Haven't decided yet if I'm going to both U2 shows. I'm really excited about the concerts I've got lined up so far this year. And the Hold Steady just announced a show next month but sadly my finances won't allow it. Hopefully they'll come back later in the year.

I got nothing this year yet :(

Possibly Nils in Leeds but I'm struggling to justify £39 - mainly the £10 ticket fee tbh which is just extortion.

Probably UFO at Leeds academy but not decided for definite.

 ??????

£39 is the actual price of the best seats. There are two price ranges, £29.10 and £39.10. The venue only charge £1.50 for internet and phone bookings plus £1 if you want the tickets posting. Mind you, they're long since sold out.

Just two so far, First Aid Kit at Hammersmith Apollo on Jan 27 and Sons of Bill at the Bullingdon Arms, Oxford on Feb 14. I also want to see the War on Drugs, but the logistics of their dates are problematic.

I have a good feeling that the upcoming Sons Of Bill album, will be the one that gets them far more recognition. Hope so!

I'll be going to see them too. Just not sure where yet!

I have Hiss Golden Messenger on Friday night, then I met a guy who I haven't seen for a year or so in the pub on Sunday, who told me about a gig he thought I should go to at a club in Lewes, he was raving about the fella.

So I have Jeffrey Foucalt on Saturday night as well.

I would have seen this guy however as is often the case, the North West was not on the tour schedule.

Greenhills, what did you think of the Seger show? I was there myself. Wish I had seen this post sooner...we could have met up for a beer.

I loved it, but REALLY loved seeing the J Geils Band (sans J Geils lol). Haven't seen them live since 1982 or thereabouts and Peter Wolf hasn't lost a step. Would give up a kidney to see them play a full headlining gig in the area.

As for Seger was happy he played quite a bit (well four songs anyway) from Ride Out. He still sounds great and looks to be in good health. A little heavy on the hits - particularly the mid tempo stuff for my taste. Honestly if I never hear Old Time Rock and Roll again I'd be okay with it.

Here's some video I took of Night Moves into RnR Never Forgets.

I wish I could go... but the Berlin show has sold out and the other cities are too far (and thus too expensive) for me to go at this point :( Anyway, I hope you have a great time!

I didn't go to Nils this time round in the end, so tonight my first gig of 2015 - Justin Townes Earle. Then Drew Holcomb on Sunday.
Yaaay! :)

He does seem to tour the north occasionally... but he's one of those artists who's forced to play wherever he gets a booking, given his popularity.

Saw Hiss Golden Messenger last night, love the new album, but live they are so much more.he is still in the UK and if you have a chance don't miss the opportunity .havent been so surprised by a gig since I first saw Bob Schneider.

Don't miss the opening number either, not saying it will be the same set, but I have never heard an opening number like that.

Encored with Waylons Lonesome Onery and Mean .

Great crowd last night as well.
