And from 1965 - banned in many places, but still hit #1 in the US in a few short weeks

more 60s vibe written and produced by Jimmy Webb

Arguably the greatest one hit wonder ever

This was a one-hit wonder, until she did a #1 hit 10 years later. But that was it. I was lucky enough to see her several times at the old Bottom Line.

What 13 year-old girl can write this in 1965? Stunning, even today.

It was my mid-term exam in 7th grade English in December, 1967. Listen to the song as much as you like and write an essay on it.

I chose this link as it is the original mono 45 (and I have exactly that ;)). The Hammond B3 organ at the end is such a distinctive 60s sound, and that riff is definitely a "name that tune in one note" riff.

Talk about we learned more from a 3 minute record ... Well, 2:59 actually :)

One of my favorites ..... I was 12 and able to buy 45's with my allowance ..... The quintessential one hit wonder .... there is almost no information about them...Oh and my apologies for the last 5 second of the video ..... Not sure what the hell that is doing in there.

Now then ... Mac and Katy Kissoon weren't one hit wonders either, cos I remember this one on THIS side of the pond ^_^

One of the coolest things about being here ....finding out what the hits were in different parts of the world. I am cheating with my book of Top 40 Billboard hits ...Mac and Katie made it all the way to number 20 with Chirpy and were never heard from again, so they were almost No Hit Wonders ...as were Middle Of The Road in America.

Some nice cheese there though !!!!
