Gigs 2016

Recommended Posts

Too early to start this thread? Apologies if so, but last night I applied for ...

Jason Isbell - Shepherds Bush Empire, January 22nd.

Tickets are only £22.50, it's on a Friday and it's walking distance from my job. Will be great to see what he's all about.

Not too early at all:

Hopefully a Wilco year but have lined up:

23rd Jan - Jason Isbell - Manchester

10th Match - Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - Manchester

30th April - Dixie Chicks - Manchester

28th May - The Wonder Stuff - Manchester

A distinct lack of travelling so far.

You won't regret it & I'll see you there Missus! Also, seeing him at Bristol too.

There seems to be a strong Greasy Lake contingent represented at the Isbell tour. Great to see.

Not much so far, Paul Carrack in January.

P***ed off that Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott have just announced a Leeds Arena date for March when I'm going to be away.

I really want to like them, and I have really tried but as a double act, those two do nothing for me whatsoever.

All I hear is The Beautiful South minus the great songs and melody.

Also, despite the love it gets on here, I hate the Leeds Arena as much as I hate any other soulless cavern arena around the country. They are all ridiculous places to watch live music.

A few exciting updates here:

23rd Jan - Jason Isbell - Manchester

10th Mar - Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - Manchester
23rd March - Natalie Merchant - Manchester
30th April - Dixie Chicks - Manchester
13th May - Father John Misty - Manchester
28th May - The Wonder Stuff - Manchester

Turn me over cos I'd be done with those two gigs...

Have been obsessed with Isbell since I first heard Southeastern and thanks to Kay here on the Lake have had all the Rateliff I can find on heavy rotation the last week or two.

It's a stunning 6 track E.P. he released in early 2015, more like 'Falling' than Nightsweats. Very mellow and acoustic, on it he reminds me of Kurt Wagner from Lambchop.

24 Jan 2016 Jason Isbell Glasgow O2 ABC

Just got organised for this one.

Part of "Celtic Connections", any idea what the vibe is like round Glesca during this?

Gig should be done, what, 2230-2300 (there'll be a "disco get-out/ghetto" on a Sunday night) so I'm wondering if there'll be any late night live music thereafter.

MagicRat, got tickets for Lucinda Williams Celtic Connections Wed 20Jan, and also to see her at O2 London 22nd and 23rd then back to Glasgow for Jason on 24th.

Not sure about late night live music on a Sunday, but just a short walk away is Howlin` Wolf, open until 3am, playing continious good Blues music.

Ah, soundo.

My usual late night drinking place in Glesca is "The Box", Charing Cross bit of Sauchiehall St.

I'm hooking up with a few mates, however they're attending Motorhead at the SECC rather than Jason Isbell.............

Think the last time I saw Motorhead, it was at The Capitol. What is it now? It was a Nightclub for a while.

Sounds like a fun few days Doc.
