Am I Understanding This Correctly?

Recommended Posts

I purchased a ticket for Chicago on Ticketmaster that I may want to sell. Because of Credit Card Entry, I believe my options are the following. Is this correct?

1. Sell it to someone I know and enter the arena with them

2. Sell it to someone that does not know me and agree to meet them at the arena and walk in together (and hope they are reliable).

3. Eat the cost and chalk it up

I do not see any other options, do you? Please let me know if I am missing something…thank you!

Yes, you are correct - those are your three options, with an important exception for #1 and #2 as noted below.

For paperless ticket entry you go to one of the designated entry gates and present the credit card used to purchase the ticket as well as a photo ID that matches the name on the credit card. I've found that the ID is not always checked.

The credit card is swiped through a small portable device, and a printed "ticket" with the seat loaction is produced. The person who bought the ticket can then either use the ticket themself, or pass the "ticket" on to another person and not enter at all.

.........

The option to not enter allows a person to buy tickets for others (say their children) but not be forced to attend the show. It also allows scalpers to meet up with buyers and escort them to the entry point, have their card scanned, and allow the ticket buyer(s) only to enter.

.........

You shouldn't have to go with option #3.

A suggestion for option #2: ask the unknown person buying the ticket to pay half the amount in advance via PayPal, and the rest upon entry. That evens the risk between both parties, and shows that the buyer is serious.

If your buyer doesn't show (with or without paying the deposite), you can try to help someone in the crowd still looking for a single ticket. If you're not comfotable with doing that then you'll have to eat the extra ticket cost.

You're welcome - glad to help.

With the ticket demand for these shows you should easily be able to sell your extra ticket and make someone else very happy!

Out GA tickets weren't CC entry even though they said they would be. We got mailed hard tickets (not for Chicago though). Have you gotten your tickets?

don't know if this can be of any help to you, but for the U2 shows at MSG this summer the paperless GAs were sold from fans to fans sending the ticket and the CC (that was used to purchase it). Of course the CC were canceled calling the bank first. They only need it to swipe it in the POS. They didn't check the IDs at entrance
