Thanks - it's been okay here in Melbs, but much of the country is struggling. The Murray-Darling and it's tributaries are basically dry (thanks to corporate cotton farming, in arid regions not suited to the crop). But climate change has kicked into second gear here so it's not looking good for the future.

Don't panic, according to some in the Climate Change thread over in the LOHAD forum it's all good and there's nothing to worry about because there's a snowstorm over there

current heat map of Oz

0c649f215c4482f2de1375600d299e65.jpg

yellow = bloody hot

purple = too bloody hot to go outside

grey - even the killer animals are too hot to kill anything

black = everything here is burnt to a crisp

sounds a familiar story but our cotton is the dairy industry

i see parts of down south that have no bussiness being green (Waitaki valley in North Otago and parts of central Otago and Inland Canterbury.  financial gain for a few, fucks up water quality for many

we need to go back to the humble sheep who was kinder and gentler to the land

i think we have fucked up our plannet

like who ever thought putting milk in plastic bottles was a good thing ?

I am in the grey zone and I can confirm its accuracy. EW my killer cat has opted for inside in the AC cooled home instead of outside looking at geckos she is too hot to chase. Hopefully when the real heat arrives at the weekend she will retain this sense. And @Daisey Jeep and @Me and Frank keeping the bird bath out has benefits for many species (in fairness they drink from her water bowl).

Still waiting for @Raced Off The Street news and happy at the prospect of a PM who wears only a hat and tie instead of trying to be 'cool' by always wearing a baseball cap.

i gave Borris some chicken iceblocks tonight- stripes of our dinner before i cooked it

i think she let it defrost before she ate it !

i tell the OH all the time to keep the outdoor water bowl fresh and topped up and i tell borros anyone is allowed to drink out of it

the birds tend to bath in it so Borris is never impressed

i just cant imamgine getting the heat you get

i used to love 30 degrees in central otago but these days i can't handle it

What lovely news, Raced! Where's it to be though, Oz or the Emerald Isle?

All to be confirmed at some date in the future

how excitting

and of course congratulations to the happy couple

we better be getting a wedding thread closer to the time over in loose ends

i felt sad that a certain young lad got married when the FC was in hiatus and we missed out on all the excitment

at 47 years of age i have been to maybe 6 weddings in my entire life so we better not be missing out on this one !
