46.6 Celsius is the official Adelaide temp from the Burea of Meteorology main site. But the two nearest weather stations to where I live recorded maximums of 47.7° and 47.5° respectively,  so I'd be pretty close to that Geelong max myself

I feel your pain!

(Aparently Niagara Falls has frozen solid. Lucky Canadians!)

I'm confused about this fuss over this in the press.  It doesn't this every year (doesn't it?  Any Lakers from Buffalo here to confirm that?)

All I know is it sure a.f. did while I was living in NJ, cos we drove up twice - once in summer, and once in winter - each was spectacular in it's own way.

goanna attacks 8 year old girl - there are so many killer animals in oz I bet you don't even know what this one looks like

Goanna is a trigger word for me and I now have Austen Tayshus'' "Australiana" stuck in my head. :P

If you don't know it then, to quote the great Aussie icon: "Do yourself a favour"

Happy Australia Day tomorrow to all you Aussie regulars which I guess now means the adopted ones like @Raced Off The Street too!!!

I will spend the next three days doing anything but looking at a computer so I remind you that this thread can be both Australian and about Bruce!

That is an all time great Bruce photo isn't it. Up there with him and Steve with the penguins on the beach. When Bruce rediscovered our continent... ( or realised there is a place you can go when NJ is snowed in and cold in late January thru February)

i feel sorry for the snake

maybe you guys should leave the lid down and leave an inch of water in the basin for any passing snakes

in the night we often find Borris in the hand basin when its hot

Popcorn arms have no meaning for me.

But getting a snake out of the dunny, well that’s just a normal Thursday for us.

When it's 42C outside, and my peak hour train is full with 600 passengers standing shoulder to shoulder, and the fella squashed up next to me hasn't used deodorant. That's too much humanity.

Joan, as a bridesmaid at a brothers wedding 3rd January 1959.

Joan is the rightmost lady. It was a double wedding with two sisters in and from the iconic Aussie town of Tenterfield, one marrying my uncle.
