Metallica return!

Recommended Posts

I'm surprised that noone has commented on how Atlas, Rise is a fucking awesome song. Best song on the album to me, no doubt. It's incredible how James still can create awesome and different riffs in E even after all these years. I've played the guitar for 16 years, and I keep repeating myself over and over again.

As for Kirk Hammet, his guitar work is really uninspired. Just wah wah noodling nonsense. Except for the ending of Halo on Fire. It reminds me a little of Fade to Black.

It really bothers me that they didn't release this as a single album. Had they released a single CD, 7, 8 songs, and a Deluxe version with the other songs as outtakes, this would be a classic right up there with the old ones.

Cologne and Vienna for me. Plus one more probably.

But that's how it's done! Release the dates of the whole tour at once. And from what I have seen so far tickets are between 55 and 90 Euros. That's reasonable!

Dutch Ticketmaster had 55-88 Euro prices for the Amsterdam shows. German shows are more expensive though. Paid 115 for a GA ticket for Cologne night 2. That's more than I'm usually willing to pay for a concert these days, but fuck it, it's Metallica.

YES!!! Cologne 09/16! They were phenomenal. Don't know if it's the best concert I've ever seen, but it was definately the one I enjoyed the most. Can't wait to see them in Vienna next March. And I think I'm gonna try to get a ticket to one more show, probably Munich.

Did you take that video?  'Cause it's pretty AWESOME!

Glad you got to see them!  I'm hoping for an arena tour here in the U.S.

No! I had GA, going nuts for 2 hours. Almost couldn't speak the next day from all the singing/screaming. ;)

And I don't film or take pictures at concerts. I don't watch through a cell-phone and store it on an SD-card, I watch through my eyes and store it in my heart. But, and I have to admit that's a bit hypocritical, I do enjoy watching the videos of others.

I don't think they'll add any more shows after they wrap it up in Europe next May. But this arena tour is something else. Have you seen the drones?

Oh, man!  That is pretty cool!

And I'm right with you on the "video hypocrisy."  There's no way I'd video any part of any concert--I want to see it, experience it, normally... but I surely want to watch someone else's!

The first of many self-made mini concert posters that I'm working on. My wife gave me one wall of our living room and I'm going to fill it with posters of my favourite concerts. First she said I can have the toilet, but I put my foot down. :-)

@LeoGetz, ever think about a man cave?:D, I could never pull something like that off in the living room.

I'll have to think about a man cave. Because soon we're redecorating our living room and the wife already said that poster will be gone. :(:D

Oh, and now that I come to think of it. Only four more weeks until my next Metallica show!

I think they will tour a lot more. Probably Oceania after this second US tour.

Nah, I don't think they'll add any more shows after they wrap it up in the States next year in March. ;)

Hmm, well, we'll just have to see I guess. : ) They toured for 2 years (and a little more) after Death Magnetic and did 20 shows in Oceania at the end of that tour. Sure, they were younger then, but their tour schedule nowadays isn't as packed as it was back in '08 - '10 so I don't see why they wouldn't go there this time as well. I mean, they clearly love touring.

I went to their show last night in Geneva (it was my second Metallica gig over the years). I've never been a metal fan, but I had a great time. I

Their 360° stage in very nice, and their "cube screens" are remarkable. Also, I really like their attitude. They spent planty of time onstage after the show giving out guitar picks, even though most of the audience were leaving.

Go and see them if you have the opportunity.

They're coming back to Europe in the summer of 2019, bringing the awesome stadium show they put on last year in the US. Can't wait!!

Boy, their Bass Player is quite the athletic. Never stopped the whole show, and the jumpin and bending, great showmanship.
