Help get us through another year - donations accepted

Recommended Posts

The end of the year is approaching, and unfortunately, that's also the time when we pay the price for all the good things this place provides. In other words, donations are once again accepted to secure our continued services.

>>> Go straight to the donation page <<<

As always, donating to Greasy Lake is voluntary, but we do hope everyone who uses the site on a regular basis will consider contributing whatever they feel they can spare, whether it's $10 og $100. To help things along I will personally throw a hat or a shirt from the Greasy Lake store into a prize pool that I hope others will add to. With every $10 you donate you get a ticket in the lottery. In other words, the more you donate, the bigger your chance of winning what I hope will grow into a really attractive bunch of (Bruce) goodies.

This has been another awesome year in Greasy Lake history. And I'm not just talking about the Dogs of the Lake thread, which - for somewhat unknown reasons - may be the longest living sticky thread on the main board ever. No, not only did we get an amazing tour with record-breaking setlistvisions and the ability to watch live video through Periscope, we also got what some of us never dared dream of a year ago: Bruce's autobiography - and with that one of the most amazing community efforts in Greasy Lake history: reading the book to our fellow member tie that bind.

You know, sometime it can feel like our heydays are behind us and that the history books about this place were wrapped up long ago, but just like Bruce can still write the occasional masterpiece, Greasy Lake continues to mean a lot to a lot of people and be the common denominator in many events... and, last but not least, a strong lever in making things happen that would otherwise be pretty impossible.

The story of this year wouldn't be complete without mentioning the technical difficulties we had in September in particular. Things are more stable now, and hopefully that will continue as Bruce heads downunder for the next chapter of his journey. If we can collect enough money to keep us afloat for another year, I promise to do everything in my power to make the ride as smooth as possible.

As always, all the details about how to donate, can be found on our donation page. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here or send me a private message. Oh, and don't forget to see if there's anything in your collection you could spare for our prize pool.

Thank you for reading and for your consideration, and of course for your long-lasting support of this place!

I am more than happy to contribute to the costs of keeping this going. It's a wonderful place to spend tiime and, indeed, what a year it has been. Who knows what 2017 my hold for us, but I know I'll be visiting the Lake again and again over the coming year, and years to come.  Thanks to all you guys who make it possible.

Er, small technical point. The donations page link in the last paragraph of the first post is taking me to the Dogs of the Lake page. I assiduously avoid the Dogs of the Lake, so,perhaps this is a dastardly plot to lure me and other unsuspecting Lakers to that odd locale.:)

Done.  Thanks for everything and I urge all you Antipodeans to be generous.  We'll be getting our money's worth on The Lake in 2017.

Has it been a year already? Went by so quickly, with River tour and THE BOOK!

Of course, I am willing to add my two cents to keep this boat afloat. Luckily, my pension was raised this year. Now, if my American friends send Trump down, all will be right with  the world.

Greasy Lake continues to be a daily delight. People here are in turn cantakerous, opinionated, witty, informative, lyrical, sweet, thought provoking, friendly, helpful, and overall great fun. Couldn't do without you, and I am looking forward to set list visions and maybe periscopes from Aussie and New Zealand. Not to mention Daisey's breathless posts!

Keep well, all of you.

Sent with gratitude for all you and the moderators do.

P.S. No mystery why the dog board is so popular. Check your moderator list. :)
