So did we help.

Haha, I'd say yes! I wasn't looking to outsource the post to people here or get an idea what to say; I've just never really seen it discussed so was wondering if anyone liked it as much as I do.

I think it might’ve gotten more attention to it’s meaning if it had been on The Rising.

I think it’s sad and beautiful and haunting all at the same time.

This will be the gist of my long, long post. :D

Thanks @Daisey Jeep for your thoughts on the sound of the song and what it conjures up for you!

"Down in the Hole" is possibly in my all-time top 20.

Down in the Hole is definitely in my top 20 (when I first started dating my wife I made her two Bruce compilations featuring my 20 favorite tracks so I had to make it definitive). Anyway, it makes sense that it missed The Rising - You're Missing is FAR too close in theme and tone and they both even have an epic organ solo, and if only one could be on the record, I do think You're Missing is the better song.

Blinkin' heck!

Thunder Road has just come on Radio 2.

Nothing like hearing your favourite song on the radio. Well, apart from hearing it live. Ha!

I'm disappointed he isn't surrounded by the E-Street-Band.

I haven't been disappointed with any of the shows released in the Archive Series because if you asked me if I wish I had been at any of those shows, I'd say yes.

At first I was too.  But then I thought it’s better to have regular  ‘fans’ depicted showing their adoration than the mighty E Street Band members.

I think that could be The Professor down front with the shiny head....

Patti and Soozie left rear.

Nils is the little fella on the left.

Max at the back - where else? - in purple

Danny grasping the robes, asking forgiveness for his most recent transgression...

And that makes it Stevie, shirtless on the right

Clarence must have been at his Birthday Party in San Francisco the day of that shoot.

(wonder if it was Eric or Frank who took this one?)

At the moment, I'm thinking Drive Fast is the quietly under-rated 'star' of the new album.  Yes, @Promise61, it might just be the music that makes it so, but there ya go ;)

Tomorrow I'll change my mind!

I love that song … the lyrics. It reminds me of this fella, dad's comrade10525054_LifeandTimes.jpg.efee18e589ef7eb2b2de7881c600e4ae.jpg … well, the title does.

Oooo, interesting insertion!

I love just about every record Phil 'the pistol' Spector ever made and there's not much to those lyrics.

There ya go.

;)

I've never really listened to the Born in the U.S.A. outtakes much - where to start with the Lost Masters collections is still beyond my expertise - but of the ones I've heard, "The Klansman" has always been the song I'm most interested by. I've always had a morbid curiosity for taboo subjects (in a way I've also always been pretty amazed that Bruce actually wrote a song about the KKK) and while "Nebraska" most likely tops the list in regards to 'graphic' context through its descriptions, this one has a genuine unnerving feel to it. It's definitely helped by that class 80s Danny synth and Bruce's downbeat vocals.

What do you lot think about this one?
