I predict a BTR full album show from 2013 which will be met with an underwhelming response.

How about a full BTR album show from 1976 which will be met with an overwhelming response? ;)

1976-04-04 - MSU AUDITORIUM, MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY, EAST LANSING, MI

NIGHT / TENTH AVENUE FREEZE-OUT / SPIRIT IN THE NIGHT / IT'S MY LIFE / THUNDER ROAD / SHE'S THE ONE / BORN TO RUN / FRANKIE / MEETING ACROSS THE RIVER / BACKSTREETS / GROWIN' UP / IT'S HARD TO BE A SAINT IN THE CITY / JUNGLELAND / ROSALITA (COME OUT TONIGHT) / RAISE YOUR HAND / 4TH OF JULY, ASBURY PARK (SANDY) / DETROIT MEDLEY / QUARTER TO THREE

Show features "Thunder Road" with a new piano introduction. 18-song set includes a rare version of "Meeting Across The River", which is the full-band version rather than a solo piano rendition previously used; the song won't be played again until 1978. Wonderful versions of "It's My Life" and "Frankie", the latter to overwhelming crowd response, just after performing "Born To Run". He sang "Frankie they're real crazy, let's run and hide, In the darkness there'll be hidden worlds that shine when all of the fury in this desperate land, will rise like raindrops in the palm of my hand…". Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)" features an extended mariachi-style introduction and a snippet of "Theme From Shaft" in the midsection. This is also one of the few known times that the whole of the Born To Run album is played. See our News tab to read a review of the show from the Michigan Daily, "Springsteen underwhelms MSU," as well as a more positive report from the Michigan State News.

Tapeboy was responsible for the excellent audience recording, and he had the following recollections of the show: "This was my third time seeing Bruce and my first time successfully getting my recorder into the show. It is arguably my best recording set up as well: the Sony 153SD cassette deck and Advent dynamic stereo mics. I also got my camera and a couple of lenses in…ahh…those were the days. MSU Auditorium was a gymnasium-type place with a U-shaped, single-level balcony surrounding the seats set up on the floor, where we were in the 11th row. This show featured all of 'Born To Run' in an era before full-album shows. It was also the first time I'd heard Bruce play "It's My Life", "Raise Your Hand", and the brand new "Frankie", which featured Bruce on cowbell and pointed in a songwriting direction away from the sound of 'Born To Run'. "It's My Life" was stunning, virtually unrecognizable until the chorus, and prompting a standing ovation midway through the song as the band completed the first chorus. Despite Bruce saying on the 2016 River tour that "Independence Day" was his first song about fathers and sons (and what about "Adam Raised A Cain"?), clearly the spoken beginning of "It's My Life" is where he first visited this theme. We left the show knowing we'd seen a great one, and thinking that a new album must be just around the corner; it was unimaginable that 'Darkness' was still over 2 years away!"

The River tour was my first show, Fall of 1980 in the dump that jumps. I was 12 years old and just purchased my first Van Halen records. My Mom had a fight with her boyfriend. So off I went with her.

Seriously, don't open the spoiler if you want to be surprised on Friday.

I'm sad.  Also, had a car crash today on my way home... slid down an icy road, straight into the back of a parked car.  So all round not very pleasing day.

Sadly the only likely source would be the Chas Gerber soundboard cassettes. Cue unjustified whinges about the sound quality.

Odd that Meeting isn't followed by Jungleland.

I'd buy it, if only for the refreshing change of era. Bruce Inc were criticised for a lack of early stuff on Live 7585 and the archive series pretty much continues to deny anything from the Appel era.

Yeah , who'd be bothered to do that...

Yes, who would do that.......

Especially as it is said/rumoured that the less than enthousiastic response to these 2 unique shows (one previously only an audiencen tape, one not even known audio), were responsible for not more unique pre-1978 releases. Of course we don't know if that is really true; and it seems they really don't have that much pre-1978 anyway, except the several shows recorded in December 1975.

But then, even if it is a 1978, 1980/1981 or 1984/1985 release, there are still pundits complaining about the guitar and/or Bruce's voice too low or too high in the mix, or whatever.

That would be a shame. As an Elvis fan I'm used to low-fi, unbalanced mono soundboards. The two 1977 soundboards released on the archive label easily surpass 95% of those recordings concerning sound quality. For me, personally, it's performance quality over sound quality.

I expect a Bruce Springsteen & The E Street band show will be released. I also think Springsteen will sing lead on all of it. His band is quite good.

Getting close to the end of my Apollo 2012 review and I'm starting to really look forward to Friday and what it'll bring. Excited to listen to it and write about whatever wonders it brings.

I hope it isn't delayed for whatever reason. The First Friday of July feels so long ago.

Having heard parts of the Milan June 28th, 2003 audience recording today I actually hope for that one. Have read enough about the technical issues to understand that it won't happen though. A man can hope though. In the meantime atlanta '78 or any 1984/85 recording with Racing In The Street will do. It can't be Friday soon enough, which is strange as that will be my first workday  this week and normally not something I look forward too :P

Am I correct that this was the first concert of the Wrecking Ball tour and also the first concert without Clarence?

2002-03, 2006-08 are due.

As is 1984-85 - and 2006 should they plan to release any more Seeger shows.

The 2002-03 issue has been much discussed, even if still not fully understood. It increasingly looks as though it is correct that few 1984-85 shows were recorded, and they will be holding back at least one for the inevitable box set.

A real curve ball would be nice (if unlikely). Something like an Amnesty show from Ivory Coast or Delhi (or anywhere except the familiar Buenos Aires show)

I think they considered Atlanta to be the opening night of the WB tour.  I was there.  It was ok.

Off the top of my head

I think some '72 shows were recorded by Mike Appel (just to have I guess). I think Main Point 75 was recorded and I think they have the tape.

Some '75 shows were recorded for a live album of some sorts.

Back in the summer of 2018 I started compiling this list after searching for and finding a load of official/pro-shot clips on YouTube. I pretty much surmised that it meant (or at least gave hope that) all of these shows were officially recorded in full. There wasn't much from the early years, but there was 'something'. I was happy with this until... well, the Lakers who were on this thread back then will remember those robotic posts *shudders*.

And instead of deleting, I've decided to bold and italicise the shows that have been released since. There's only nine of them, so not too many, but still a case of #Paolostrodamus again, maybe???

  93. April 6th, 2014 - March Madness Festival - live streamed
  94. May 18th, 2014 - Uncasville - officially released then removed

Here are some other notes, mainly taken from the always reliable Wikipedia(/joke):

  • For The Rising Tour; the last three nights of the Giants Stadium stand and both shows at Fenway Park were filmed in full, but have otherwise not seen release.
  • In regards to the 2007/08 shows, there was also a plethora of edited clips of certain songs uploaded to Bruce's official website. I'm not sure which shows they were taken from, whether I've already mentioned them or not. But that's still something to be optimistic about if you're hoping for more Magic.
  • In relation to the Working on a Dream tour, several shows were filmed, but at the tour's conclusion no decisions had been made about whether to release them on DVD or other media, but then London Calling was released.

So 60 assumed show recordings turns into at least 85.

I'm also aware different official/pro shot clips might have popped up in the two years since, but it's half 1 and I'm not getting stuck into a search right now. (/serious) - Remember when I was doing that? Jesus wept.

Here are some other notes, mainly taken from the always reliable Wikipedia(/joke):

For The Rising Tour; the last three nights of the Giants Stadium stand and both shows at Fenway Park were filmed in full, but have otherwise not seen release.

In regards to the 2007/08 shows, there was also a plethora of edited clips of certain songs uploaded to Bruce's official website. I'm not sure which shows they were taken from, whether I've already mentioned them or not. But that's still something to be optimistic about if you're hoping for more Magic.

In relation to the Working on a Dream tour, several shows were filmed, but at the tour's conclusion no decisions had been made about whether to release them on DVD or other media, but then London Calling was released.

So 60 assumed show recordings turns into at least 85.

I'm also aware different official/pro shot clips might have popped up in the two years since, but it's half 1 and I'm not getting stuck into a search right now.

I'm also aware different official/pro shot clips might have popped up in the two years since, but it's half 1 and I'm not getting stuck into a search right now.

we need a column for the director or filming person

like Barry Rebo or Arnold Levine who shot 1973-05-01 and 1978-07-08

@Paolo's Circus Story I think that all of Wrecking Ball was recorded, just in case they wanted to do something with it later.

I stick to the theory that during/after Reunion tour they just recorded everything because it was easy and they didn't have to think too much about it.

I agree, I just included those shows listed based on what I could find on YouTube.
