It’s fun listening to all the different arrangements! Way to go, Lakers!

Do you have to pass a singing test to join the clergy ?

Because your congregation must be very fortunate to have you crooning those hyms on sunday  :)

Now, while I'm doing things that don't really require much thought like dishes or folding laundry, I think. And sometimes, ideas come to me. But I won't do anything with it and if a few days later it's still in the forefront of my mind, I'll sir down with it and write it down and record a sound clip. Sometimes, more will come with it and sometimes it's nothing more than just that. I have over 100 "ideas" which are nothing more than a melody and a few lines saved to my phone. Sometimes, i can take those and piece them together to make something more. I wrote a song called The Ride in about 15 minutes and another called Sundown on Me and You in 20. I recorded demos for them as well. That's just for feeling the song out. Like taking it for a walk outside of the notebook so to speak. But again, if youre interested, ill do whatever i can to help you out

Hey Junglelander, thanks for the kind words of encouragement and advice. Much appreciated. It's funny when and where songs come from. I've taken to carrying a note book around and scrawl all kinds of nonsense in it. When I have a tune in my head I sift through it and try to find some diamonds hidden in the dirt. But just like you sometimes the whole thing just comes together in 20 mins. Whether it's any good is a different question. I'm just waiting for something as magical as the BTR riff or DITD melody to pop into my head! In terms of inspiration, I've certainly made my fair share of mistakes, not to mention a divorce, depression and plenty of heartbreak in my rearview! Before we get the violins out, it's all good now! For anyone going through something bad, have faith - things can get better, trust me! :)

Those are all really great... I still feel like a failure after signing up and not managing to record mine in time. :(

I think everyone's contributions are all amazingly great...

That’s very sweet, Daisey! No singing test, that’s for sure. At my church the music is much more contemporary than one might think. We will sing hymns, but most of our music is written in the last 15 years or so. We have a pretty rockin’ band and I’m trying to get my sax player to be Clarence! Hahaha!

I finally found some time to gives these interpretations the attention they deserve. I like how there’s a lot of less obvious choices and how a lot of you worked to give the songs a different arrangement. I’m genuinely impressed with the effort that went in a lot of these and picking a favorite is not an easy task. Cheers for this time well spent!

Start with a roasted chicken in the dressing room.
