David had his phone on during dinner - they had to go for the train before the penalties started.

Aye, been watching how it's going.

It's sad cos I reckon Ross is a right promising manager, but the bottom line is the Mackems cannot spend more than one season in the third division.

By hook or by crook they need out.

They're still a massive club.......mebbe the jump from St Mirren to Soo'lan' was too much.....who knows, but it looks like his coat is on a shoogly peg.

If it looks like they're not escaping I'd expect the panic button to be pressed.

mackems are falling out of love with Ross

I was under the impression people from Newcastle thought Sunderland was a shithole? Seems a bit contradictory for them to be drinking up here.

Anyways, regardless of football matters, I hope things are going well, Roy!

I reckon it was fake news, no way would a Newcastle fan be drinking in Sunderland after a Sunderland cup final loss.

Thanks for the kind words btw.

Last night was the first in a run of nine games in thirty-one days(if my arithmetic is right) for the Mackems to finish the season.

Certainly make or break for Mr Ross's Wearside career.

Aye, nae looking good for the play offs and Ross will get huckled if they don't get up.

Maybe the jump from St Mirren to the Mackems was too big at this stage in his managerial career, maybe they're still in a state of ongoing disfunction, who knows.

I still reckon he could be a right good manager one day.

I don't think it was too big a jump, I think the big issue is that 46 games into a season he still doesn't have a clue what his best team or formation is.

Now don't get me wrong, I think I'm the only Sunderland supporter who hasn't turned on Jack Ross. I don't want us to sack him, doing that in the past few years has got us nowhere (well, I mean it got us to League 1, but you know what I'm getting at) but he definitely shouldn't be given a free ride because he has made a lot of mistakes. Making George Honeyman the club captain - and by default having to build teams around this awful player all season - was the first mistake. Others include poor substitutions etc. etc. but there's nothing that can be done to change that now. They just need to be learned from. The same can be said about selling Josh Maja. I think if we still had him we'd have won the league yesterday, it's a case of "ifs and buts" though.

Do I think we'll beat Portsmouth on Saturday? No, we've been bottling games for a while now and I expect that to continue. Do I think Jack Ross will go into next season as Sunderland manager? I do, but I have doubts as to whether he'll still be here in October.

Ultimately I can answer the question I pondered one year ago.

Josh Maja, was he the centre that got sold in January?

I dunno, you guys are a massive club still.

The Buddies ground holds a little over six thousand.

I doubt their highest paid player has a basic weekly wage into four figures.

And the boy Honeyman, is he not "one of your own"?

Anyway, hope you make it up.

He was yeah, it was either sell him in January or he goes for nothing in the summer after he refused to sign a new contract. The lad got offered 14k a week from Bordeaux and with him being only young you can't blame him for accepting it. He seems to be doing well there, scored the other week.

Honeyman was born in Northumberland so I wouldn't be surprised if he was actually a mag. He's just another in the long list of our Academy players who aren't very good.

It's been a disastrous season all things considered, 5th place in League One makes this the worst in our history, but funnily enough I'd still bet on this side (when motivated and on the top of their game) against the relegated Championship side from last season.
