Notes: Once again, much thanks to Bickle for the tapes. BITUSA would not fit on D1 if you were burning so I moved it to D2. Warps at the start of Cover Me and Backstreets. Otherwise a clean tape.

Originally I was not going to convert this tape. There is an exisiting silver by Mainstream named Express to England. There was also a tape done by KM recently(thanks)of the same show. When I was converting the June 25 tape I accidentally copied the wrong side of the tape which was the last 4 songs from this show. Upon comparing to KM's tape it sounded much clearer to me. I think it is the same tape but a lower generation. Also, to my ears, the existing Mainstream boot to me sounds distant and maybe a tad slow, so I decided to do the rest of the tapes for this show. I think this one blows them both out of the water! Compare for yourself, you'll agree.

Enjoy, Ivan.

Upon review of this issue, I've surmised that a list of ALL vinyl to .flac transfers of merit & quality currently out there is beyond anyone's pay grade here (please correct me if I'm astray on this...) so maybe it would be better to contribute post/shares of historic and/or notable vinyl to .flac transfers (by boot or by virtue of the transferer...) freely...

This recorder is in a different location. I found too many instances of crowd voices picked up that are not in the Doberman and vice versa ....it's just too much of a difference to theorize that they were EQ'd out of one or the other recording. Great to see this shared, I know there are countless instances of undocumented private recordings out there and this one is rather good quality. Maybe one of the experts knows where it came from

cross-posted from the Wembley '85 thread

ok, it's done - the 24/96 version and a 16/44 for those who need that instead

My masters had some issues that caused a lot of frustration in  the remastering process - tapes flips/stops, uneven levels from one section to another, the challenge to make louder songs next to softer songs/spoken interludes sound the best, keeping all the clarity possible and trying always to process/boost only what is needed and avoid an artificial result.

The end product should be something that allows you to feel like you were there that day, as I was. I think hrubesh did a marvelous job, and this end-product is worthy. From the moment Bruce stepped out and silenced a crowd of 80k with nothing more than an acoustic guitar and a harmonica, thru the opening 3 pack, the marvelous Darkness (the only one in London!) into that sublime River, a superb Trapped in the 2d set, and yet another Wembley Twist & Shout ("a little bit WHAT?") it was a great experience with my new-found neighbors on the dance floor. I think this does an excellent job of immersing the listener in this show - I hope you agree!

As always, if you think the end-product achieves that, praise the remasterer, hrubesh, who labored long with this one. He had to put it down and return to it, multiple times, because sometimes it just feels like you're chasing your tail - "haven't I tried this before?" If you don't like it then blame me for providing an inconsistent raw product that ultimately made his job impossible - because we know from many, many other efforts he has the skills if he has the raw material to work with. And again, big thanks to hobbes4444 for providing an excellent 24/96 transfer of my masters here in the US, thus avoiding the perils of shipping them afar.

Finally, I hope you all enjoy the artwork hrubesh spent so much effort to assemble. I cannot imagine how he finds the proper pictures! Until I saw the panoramic one I had no sense of how many people were BEHIND me! I ended up each day about midway between the stage and the soundboard, roughly centered or maybe a few steps to Bruce's right. And I was able to get out at intermission and back to the same spot via the aisle close by. So I never truly appreciated the sea of humanity back there. What a sight!

Enjoy!

(and yes, there will be a further effort on 7/3 as well, and a 24/96 end-product, for a full HD "box set")

@JimCT, HUGE thanks you and to the Bruce Boot Master Class Professors* (again) for bringing to light and to life another true gem from Bruce, the band and your life. The '85 European shows, especially the London shows, are watershed sublime. We all found out that he CAN take NJ to CA to football (rugby) stadiums on multiple continents...

...thank you all* for the share and for all of the time and work that went into this.

Please maintain file name(s).
