One of my friends was on it way back in about 65. He has total recall about the whole day

CRACKERJACK!

Well spotted BTW got the show name wrong in his original post - he should be punished by rewatching a show with the Krankies on

Peter Glaze was a sidekick rather than a presenter wasn't he?

I think Michael Aspel is my earliest memory.

Yes I think he was the sidekick. I just always picture the two of them together.

I seem to remember Glaze and Don McLean ( not that one) as a pairing also. Peter Glaze spanned a few presenters.

I also recall Bernie Clifton on top of his ostrich.

This reminds me of the 'opposition' over on ITV, Magpie (like a renegade Blue Peter).  The unforgettable Susan Stranks seemingly never bought any brassieres.

I remember "Magpie" an "edgier" Blue Peter indeed...........yes, Susan Stranks was an early crush.

Then they replaced her with Jenny Hanley so I forgot about her.......:D

I also recall "How" which was probably a bit racist.
