Good thread, I love me some comedy movies.  Most hilarious movie I've seen recently is The Breaker Upperers on Netflix.

Sheer hilarity.

I live in Leslie Neilson's old house.  I didn't know that until the guy who lived here before told me that.

He grew up in my town and went to a artsy high school, shocking I know.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum - Zero Mostel, w/Phil Silvers. Comedy at its very best.

"Alas, poor girl, to have died so young, without ever having experienced ... me."

The Producers (the original, w/Zero Mostel and a young Gene Wilder)

Blazing Saddles

Young Frankenstein

The Hangover always makes me laugh. The Original Naked Gun. Tootsie is an underrated comedy. Planes , Trains and Automobiles.

I watched a comedy last year called The Package. It's exactly the kind of comedy I would usually ignore; it's juvenile and the premise centers around a penis, but I thought it was hilarious.

No movie will ever be funnier than Airplane except for "Life of Brian"

FTFY.

Funniest two movies ever for me.

TV series - Father Ted.

Honourable mention to the first season of "I'm Alan Partridge"

Some Like It Hot, Bringing Up Baby, and The Philadelphia Story if you like classic screwball comedy.

SLIH, Blazing Saddles, Airplane, Holy Grail, and The Hangover are probably my top five comedies of all time. If I’m channel surfing I’ll always stop if one of those comes up.

Some great ones already name checked here and I agree with most. I remember the first time I saw The Producers, knowing nothing about it other than Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder and being blown away.

I'd add:

The Heat :with Sandra Bullock and Melisa McCarthy

Heaven Can Wait: with Warren Beatty and Julie Christie

Les Visituers (French) and El Mundo es Nuestra ( Spanish,,,)

Also, don't miss out on Ealings like The Ladykillers

For me, the Bilko box set always does it.  The Laurel and Hardy box set goes without saying.

A couple weekends ago I felt like watching a movie, and discovered Love Actually was on Netflix. Probably the 4th or 5th time I've seen it and it made me laugh and cry all over again. It's just such a good movie. Not one scene in that is superfluous or wasted. Every scene has a hook or punch, sad or funny... And the cast... man.

It's in my top 5 now.

I love this film. It's one of the only actual movies I own. I need to watch it again. I think it also had a great soundtrack and the music fits in each scene so well.

Other films have tried to duplicate Love Actually but none come even close to emulating it. Most are pretty bad.
