I love the orchestration too. I think it makes WS more uplifting than Nebraska, GOTJ and D&D.

a triangle could make WS more up lifting that GOTJ

Is that like ‘Orse Racing?

is it not officially decreed that the H in ‘Orse has been removed?

Are there any theories as to why he starts off singing 'orses' but changes to 'horses' towards the end of the song? It must surely be deliberate?

The vocals were recorded partly in Yorkshire and the rest in NY.

Seriously though I too have wondered why he changes part way through, there has be a reason, Bruce thinks about this stuff too much for there not to be...

He switches back to 'orses again on the last verse.

I don't know why that is. I was thinking that he's more talking than singing on the first two and last verse, but in the middle verse when he pronounces the H he was singing out more.

Who knows?

Because he is waiting for the calvary to come....

My take on it, at the beginning, was that he was using the parlance of those who work with these horses - also the cowboys of yore.

A serious answer. What's that doing here? ^_^

Silly me.

At the end of the 19th century, The New York Times described people who drop their H as “h-less socialists”.

CWH has grown nicely and now its in my top 3 of the album, its funny how different songs evolve in your mind over time, I love the lyrics and bridge bit of the song...........

A fingernail moon in a twilight sky
I'm ridin' in the high grass of the switchback
I shout your name into the canyon
The echo throws it back

It's been a long time since a record has affected me this much. Was looking forward to it and excited about the "country vibe". Thought it was cool driving music at first but damn it has seeped into my blood.

Those of you who really like this album, are any of you getting tired of it yet?

I thought I needed to play something else yesterday, but today I was back with WS!

...I actually skipped a song the other day..... Somewhere North Of Nashville..... but only once..... and for the first time the other day I was driving to a pub with friends and I stuck LonesomeJubilee by Mellencamp on, but one of my friends then pickedup the WS cd  and said - oh this is the new Springsteen album can you stick it on? And so back in it went......:D

Yes, I thought a pause would be a good thing and put on The Promise. But then I reverted to WS, albeit on shuffle, so I was alert to each particular song.

I haven't been listening to it exclusively, which I knew I wouldn't do forever, but I still play it every day and it's replaced my rain sounds for going to sleep in the morning.
