We had a long drive today, so I listened to it three full times today.  To whoever asked a few pages back if people are getting tired of it — not at all, I love it more and more.  (My least favourite songs are Hitch Hiking and Sleepy Joe’s Cafe, but they are OK.)

There are so many I’d say are wonderful and I’m happy when I hear them starting, but of all of them, I am just swept away by Western Stars.  So, so beautiful.

A woman who has somehow conned the BBC into thinking she is a disc jockey.

I really think he shot himself in the car park.

You can read, can't you? Read the lyrics and then tell me how you shoot yourself with a whiskey bottle.

Loz Guest on Planet Rock playing The Wayfarer, saying it's the new single.

....bad idea if thats the case, I found The Wayfarer a song you have to stick with, first listens can be 'oooo, thats a bit out of tune' on the' Where are you now' bit but over time I have come to appreciate the song.... and the Where are you now bit is a gateway into those big brass and string moments which I lve come to like very much, its a song that fits into the overall picture rather than a shining moment....

I would also add is there such a thing as a single anymore?

The credits say there are background vocals on western stars but for the life of me I can't hear them.  Where are they?

Bruce does backing vocals on one and the 'lasses' … oh, he's coming on Radio 2 shortly … they're on The Wayfarer. Bleuch! :D I'm not listening to that one again.

If nobody else comes back with the one he sings background vocals on, I'll have a listen.

Oh, did you mean the song or the album? Hahaha, I've just woken up.

Sorry I meant western stars the track

Somebody's ooooing on the line about the credit card. (That's clearer with the headphones on)

Put my headphones on … when the music swells on the last chorus, I don't think it's just instruments - it's their voices, too.

Maybe a reference to it being an alternative to his good music?

Bloody hell that's a bit harsh. Have I upset you in the past?

I think the same was asked of someone else a while back … nothing personal. :)

Nah not taken personally. I've just poured out a couple of shots, one for me and one for Berlintramp as well.

Thank you! Poured one out for you and me as well.

If it sounded harsh, I apologise. Wasn't meant that way. It just seems so obvious to me what the lyrics say, I don't think we should start mystifying the content.

It is such a beautiful song full of quiet resignation and acceptance. Violence has no part in it.
