Social media profile photos have also changed to this, which would have made a cool album cover also

Way better and it would be similar to Tunnel with a much older man.

It would have made a much better cover. It's Neil Yonug-esque.

So, first impression...

Much, ,much better than the album cover!

Sounds country. Good country. Melody reminds me of something but I can't quite put my finger on it. Sounds like something you'd slowly dance to at the end of a warm day. I could see Kris Krstofferson doing this except it's a bit cleaner and sweeter.

So far I've got to say it's much better than I expected.

Agree with the Kris Kristofferson nod.

Just listened as well...and I like it!   I need more listens to soak it all in which is a good sign to me.  Also, I concur with TJ above, but want to add that I see this song as adding to Bruce’s legend and not detracting from it.  Couldn’t say the same for WOAD and WB.

Cant wait to hear the rest of the album.

Just listened to Hello Sunshine and as expected it isn't for me BUT I really like the tone of his voice.  It sounds strong and clear.  What year what it recorded?

Where'd you listen to that?

Hitch Hikin'.

You better get that one right, Bruce. I've never known it to be two words, so I'm already dubious.

He should have consulted you. :)

I'm not sure if I love or hate the cover.

I love it, actually.

I think I agree. However, to be sure, I'd have to google "Bernard Manning's ball sack" and I can't do that at work.

Trust me, there are NO circumstances under which Googling that phrase would be a good idea.

It’s going to really split opinion I think.

Personally, I’m 3rd listen in and a bit in love with it. The piano is gorgeous. Love the voice and the lyrics.

It just feels right to me and I wouldn’t describe the genre as my sort of music.

Got it... just listened to it... I think I would have loved this song without the strings.

It sounds great before the strings come in and after they fade away. The strings are a bit too saccharine for me. I love everything else about the song though.

I feel the same way, just found the lyrics:

Hello Sunshine"

Had enough of heartbreak and pain
I had a little sweet spot for the rain
For the rain and skies of gray
Hello sunshine, won't you stay

You know I always liked my walking shoes
But you can get a little too fond of the blues
You walk too far, you walk away
Hello sunshine, won't you stay

You know I always loved a lonely town
Those empty streets, no one around
You fall in love with lonely, you end up that way
Hello sunshine, won't you stay

You know I always liked that empty road
No place to be and miles to go
But miles to go is miles away
Hello sunshine, won't you stay
And miles to go is miles away
Hello sunshine, won't you stay
Hello sunshine, won't you stay
Hello sunshine

The more I look at the picture the more it looks like it could have been a classic album cover - agree with you that it is VERY NY-esque

Well, I never. I really thought all of the advance stuff was a hoax and now it's TRUE! (Just like when I got the first information he had written his autobiography and I went naaaaw).

I sometimes thought I might not live long enough to see him publishing another album. I'm awed, and I will NOT let anyone spoil this before we have even heard it. All of it.

I would describe "Hello Sunshine" as a cross between "Devils & Dust" and "Secret Garden" with strings with a dab of the newer version of "Blood Brothers"

I think I love it now. Which is odd because I don't love those songs it reminds me of

I haven’t had a chance to hear the new song yet but it’s bed time down here so I’ll let it slide till morning. Everyone’s first listen reviews have whet my appetite for sure.

I’m another who thinks that a new direction is adding value to Bruce’s legacy, not diminishing it. He’ll always come back around to barnstorming Bruce, no matter how many forays he takes into other passion projects. One day I hope we get to hear them all.

It’s been my birthday today and to finish off a day of being spoiled with the promise of a new Bruce album is kind of perfect.

Waking up to a new song and video will be a pretty good way to start my next trip around the sun. Hello Sunshine, for sure.

Those lyrics are good. Now if I could just hear the song...

Can anyone make it available? I can't do this radio stuff, it doesn't work here.

So, he basically (and officially) found his “sunny day”. No more waiting. Let it be known to every parent on Earth. ;)

That's about where I am.  The song didnt change my life (as some songs did) but it is something I like on first listen and will no doubt appreciate it more as I absorb it over the next few weeks
