The day has arrived when it's time to listen to the 11 entries in this year's Lakers Cover Bruce song contest and find a winner. That is, voting will be open until the end of Sunday June 2 to give everyone time to listen and ponder.

When you vote, you will get the choice of awarding from 1-3 points to a song. You can give them all 1 point or 2 points or 3 points. That's completely up to you. There is no 0 points option, just because I think everybody deserves points just for being brave enough to submit, and all entries are, in my opinion, absolutely worth listening to.

When the voting is over, I will add up all the points and declare a winner.

Download all the songs as a zip-file.

Good luck to all!

1. Kitty’s Back: Is that you playing all the instruments? Can’t be easy putting this together! It’s a really complex song and I wish I had the skills to put something like this together. 2. Soul

Everyone of you did great. I'm always impressed with those who have English as a non first language do so well. Also, no one sounds alike, you all have your own voice. I think TJ have a pretty ac

I’ve listened to all of them. Some great stuff here, as usual! I’ll have to give everything another listen before I get to voting and say something about my favourites.

I read about some who didn't want to do this if they were being 'judged' and in competition with each other. Was it decided (well it must have been) that it was ok to do this?

I've had a quick listen to them all and will listen, later, when I finish off the wind @Daisey Jeep :)

ZIP downloaded, will go on the phone and be listened to on the stereo and in the car on the way to work tomorrow.

I still have my favourites from last year on my phone too.

Thanks in advance to everyone involved. Can't wait to listen. ^_^

Just did a quick listen, wow! I'll listen a few more times before rating. I had an issue playing Dancing on Google drive the first time but it finally played, and while it may be an obvious song it sounds like the Modern Lovers covering Bruce!

tremendous stuff well done all, but i do love the pure accoustic and its an introduction to Richfield Whistle, have missed that one somehow

It's always been one of my favorite unreleased outtakes. Tremendous, complex and nuanced storytelling. There's an earlier version called James Lincoln Dear. Similar to the Nebraska songs, there's not a whole lot going on musically. It's kind of a repetitive dirge, but the story just sucks you right in. Bruce is so good with characters on the ropes, with their backs against the wall and at the edge of societal acceptance.
