The Official 2019/20 Premier League thread

Recommended Posts

I was listening to a preview show on the league last night and I was a bit startled by unanimous opinion of the panel that MC wins the league again.  About the only thing they felt could derail them is getting mentally exhausted by Pep and his demands for improvement.  On the one hand I feel that eventually the demands of competing for three trophies, a couple of departures, eventually a teams luck goes sour (injuries, bad bounces, etc.) should catch up to a team; three times in a row? C'mon man!  OTOH they made a pretty compelling case.  Pretty smart signings for one and they felt Liverpool over-performed a bit last year and has stood pat in the transfer market.  IDK... they can't possibly do it again can they?  One intriguing possibility to me is what if management tells Pep to go "all in" to win the Champions League - surely that would have to open the door for Liverpool?

I'm hoping for a good show from Sheffield here.  A decent chance to get a result which would be nice and possibly very necessary for them.

My favorite football podcast is back today and you have no idea of how contented that makes me.

Do you listen to "Football Ramble"?

I'm a voracious podcast consumer, I prefer to listen to them rather than music when dog walking and the Ramble is entertaining.

I do not.  Do you have a link by any chance?  Always in the market for another good pod.

I get it off iTunes,  they're now doing a daily podcast try this link -

https://stakhanov.studio/shows/the-football-ramble/

There's a lot of running "in" jokes so stick with it a while and get a feel.

The Monday and Thursday podcasts are the "proper" Football Ramble ones.

Little bit of trivia about arsenal... today’s line up contains 2 young english players rei as  Nelson and Matt willock for the first time since feb 1998

back then it was Matt up son and Paolo Venezia

there are a total of 4 English players in the team bbc doesn’t say when that last happened

The whole bit with him and the super soaker was hilarious.

My favorite pod hands down.  They have a stable of really fine guest panelists.  Lars is really growing on me.

epl returned this weekend, and there was a HUGE shock in the very first round of fixtures.

Man City ONLY scored FIVE against one of the other 19 teams making up the numbers.

Yes FIVE away goals...same as Celtic

However Man City will have to score 7 in their first home game to match  them

Oh god... it's happening again.  But then again, I wonder what the betting line is on CP?

Chelsea vs Leicester is an interesting game.  Lets see if Chelsea looks to go down a few rungs and Leicester has a shot at going up a couple of places as so many pundits seem to think is at least possible.

I get the logic in that. LFC’s best ever PL team is being overshadowed by City.

In a couple of years time this emerging, young and hungry United team will be ready to win it and Pep will have moved on.

That will likely coincide with this LFC team having missed the boat.

So Liverpool still have the same amount of Premier League titles as Newcastle United..but Newcastle United have more Texaco Cup wins
