Hi all. Anyone know who is "Pete" that Bruce mentions before It's Hard to be a Saint?

Just a guess but it has to be Townshend.

Yeah, thought of him but also wondered if it was a reference to Pete Ham of Badfinger who had died earlier that year

I had heard a few months ago on E Street Radio that it is a reference to Townsend.

Pretty bold for a 1975 Bruce to presume a first-name basis with Pete Townsend

It's a guy called Pete Harris, an old friend of mine.  Great, colourful character from Cardiff who has some some great Bruce stories.  He lives down Exeter way now.

Pete told his Hammersmith story to Uncut magazine a while back.  I'll dig it out at some point and scan it in.

Seems I had it on my laptop.  Pete's the one in the middle.

Speaking of Wales and Hammersmith, local lad Chalkie Davies was the NME photographer for the debut.  Here's a few of his.

And here is that photo as presented at an acclaimed exhibition of Chalkie's work at Cardiff Museum a couple of years back.

It certainly has become one of the most iconic photos of his career.  A very significant point in Bruce's career.

It certainly has!  And he said he was MORTIFIED when he saw that...

I'm pretty sure that Chalkie said that this photo and the one where he's talking to the girls in the car were taken after the show, not before.
