  1. 1. 1. I feel these three have been the best rockers placed early on in his set that gets the crowd going, sometimes being the very first song as well. There were other worthy contenders like Prove It All Night and The Ties That Bind but I felt these three were the best ones to choose from.So which is your favourite to air fist pump to live?

Nothing gets me going like No Surrender - in the pit, in the nosebleeds, in the cushy seats...it doesn't matter, that song is an absolute blast.

Have you listened to the 11/4/84 LA version, solo? An ode to his absent friend Steve, where you can hear the ache of love (filios, or agape? I'd let a classical Greek debate that ;)). Almost a completely different song from the full-band, amp'ed and pumped versions.

The bonus with MLWNLYD is that there will be people there who have never heard it before, and will be astonished :D

Have seen several shows actually "begin" with all 3 of these (and TTTB) and for sure an awful lot of shows were all 5 were in the first onslaught before he even said "Hello" - so then it comes down basically to which of these songs do I actually prefer!!?...…….Badlands was a no brainer for me in terms of the poll choices and if I was ranking them in terms of my liking it would be :

Badlands

Prove It All Night

The Ties That Bind

No Surrender

My Love Will Not Let You Down

Especially when the Big Man was alive those first 3 (on top of everything else that they have going for them) had a sax solo entry mid song that made the heart beat just that little bit faster. Last show I saw that "opened" with Badlands was the Nou Camp on the last tour - nuff said!!!

Bizarrely that show opened as follows :

Badlands

No Surrender

My Love Will Not Let You Down

The Ties That Bind

and later on song 22 of 36 was Prove It all Night

I love all three, and have been lucky enough to have heard all three as openers.  Multiple times in fact.

They’re all great, and I’d happily take any one of them.

That said, I went with Badlands.  Doesn’t matter how many times I’ve listened to it or heard it live, it always, ALWAYS gives a jolt of energy, and most importantly unbridled, total and complete JOY.

Yep, that would be right up there with the one I just posted.

I liked Meet Me in the city on the River tour because it was a great intro to the rest of the show. It just has opening song written all over it.

Probably Radio Nowhere for me. There's such great drive in that song.

Never liked Badlands as an opener personally. Always felt it was something to be worked up to.
