I never got into Mad Men and I tried a few times. The top 2 are indisputable and head and shoulders above all others.

I'm the only person on the planet who hasn't watched the top three.

My tuppence worth following an only perfunctory scan, The Thick of It should be number one, American Office should be marginally higher than the UK version, The Trip, Veep, Sherlock, Parks & Rec, Brass Eye:Paedogeddon are all criminally lowly in their rankings.

Isn't it rather early to begin counting down bests of the 21st century? According to my calculations, there are still 8 decades and 79 years left yet...

I never watch anything because people tell me I should. But those first two on that list are just superb.

I was really peeved that Peaky Blinders wasn't on the list!  Would also have expected Nurse Jackie to be in there somewhere.

I have watched about 25% and certainly agree that Sopranos is top.

And for those who haven’t seen it, it’s also on the list, by the guy that created The Wire and featuring A LOT of Bruce songs, Show me a Hero is really great.

If you moved Breaking Bad to the top, then I would say the top 4 is spot on.

Its a British list so I you are going to get some homegrown current shows that have no place on the list, we have no idea if they stand the test of time.

A true great is a show like the Wire. In your face, uncompromising, hard to understand the street language unless you concentrate, no learning, not politically correct in terms of it reflected the situation it was set in, no happy ever after. Amazing writing and character study. 18 years old and people are still discovering it.

i just rewatched with my wife who hadn’t seen it and she was stunned by the end.

For example when Omar was killed, he was a pivotal part of the show for 5 seasons yet when he died other than a passing mention, no one mentioned it. No episode milking it for 50 minutes, it just reflected life on the street where life has no value.

Each series focussed on the drug trade and a different aspect of Baltimore And irs effect, The police, Unions and the death of labour, politics, The education system and finally the press and a well ahead of its time story about “fake news”

By the end of season 5 you feel you understand Baltimore and every major city with a drug problem.

Actually many of the characters are based on real people. Many of the actors were criminals

Any list that excludes Prisoner Cell Block H isn't worth a jot.

Except, when The Sopranos is at the top.  To paraphrase Holly (Cara) Price when writing about Bruce and looking for superlatives, we need to write a new dictionary.

Oh, never mind.  Sounds really dull.  But I found Breaking Bad tedious.

No.

I watched some of the early series of Big Brother, other than that I haven't watched any of them.
