Come see him in the Dominican in November. It was amazing last year.  No full moon for 2020 but still should be fantastic.

If only ... B) I just hope he's better by then.

Me, too.  I was supposed to see him in Calgary last summer but he had to cancel that one to have a stent installed. He was doing better by the fall, hope it is the same this time around for him.

No need to worry now as I feared. EC has announced the cancellation of the remaining 3 shows on Facebook anyway.

Gutted given the terrific reviews, but fully understanding the reasons.

Daisey.:)

This is a great band! Well band...:) it's more Mike Scott playing with 200 other musicians in various line-ups the past 40 years. (Not really 200 of course but you get the idea). The band of The Big Music.:)

To put some things into perspective: the name of the band is from the song The Kids by Lou Reed, their first single as The Waterboys, A Girl Called Johnny, is a tribute song to Patti Smith and Mike Scott is a big Bruce Springsteen fan.:) In an interview [from 1985] he said he thought the best Bruce Springsteen albums are the first three albums.

I have seen him/them (as The Waterboys and Mike Scott as a solo act) a few times live over the years and at one of the shows they played a cover of Independence Day. And also Because The Night but not at a show I saw in person as far as I can remember.

And out of The Waterboys came another great band, World Party.

Not sure if the link will work outside of SA, but I thought this was pretty cool. One of my favourite SA artists, Arno Carstens, whom I was supposed to see on the 3rd of April, is doing a live concert stream on YouTube tonight. You have to buy a ticket to watch, but it's only a hundred Rand per household. (about 5 or 6 Dollars/Pounds/Euro) So Whether its 1 or 4 people watching, it costs the same. These guys make their bread and butter these days from live gigs so I have no issue supporting something like this and watching from the comfort of my own home.

Looking forward to how it plays out tonight. I think this could become a new 'thing'...

Indeed.

The Kennedys did a free live stream last Sunday and are planning another one tomorrow. Although it was free they did give details of how they could be "tipped"

I've seen him!  He was support act for Ultravox in Oxford almost 10 years ago (I looked it up).  I hadn't heard of him, but my friend-next-door is South African and was quite impressed that I was getting to see him.

He was/is the lead vocalist of arguably the greatest South African rock band of all time, Springbok Nude Girls, and has had a very successful solo career as well. He does really heavy stuff and beautiful ballads and has even released an Afrikaans album which was incredible. Seen him love many times and can't wait to see the live stream tonight. Happy to support our musos through this anyway I can.
