I am quite worried we will lose alot of gigs for the rest of this year. I mean I can't see anyone huddling in venue with hundreds if not thousands of others for a wee while yet. Best for bands to cancel til next year I reckon.

I do have severe doubts about those shows that are currently being re-scheduled for later this year.

After what was shaping up to be a great gig year, even without you-know-who, it’s increasingly looking like Jesse Malin might have been the last show of 2020, particularly after the U.K. governments Covid 19 briefing last night.
Hopefully see you back on the rail in 2021.

Yes, this is where I now feel relieved that I hadn't booked anything at all so far so no disappointment factor.
Was going to see a Doors tribute band just before it all kicked off, just for a night out, but decided it was best not to go.

My last gig was The Sisters of Mercy in Leeds, 5 days before the start of restrictions.... didnt think it would be the last for a long time... good gig it was too!

I’ve been rooting around the attic and came across a load of old 45’s last weekend. Included a clutch of Sisters singles. Never a ‘goth’ I might add!

Am beginning to think we might need to close this thread down. Gigs 2020. There may not be any. If social distancing is set in for a long time, gigs will never be allowed. Huge shame.

Kiwanuka postponed some dates in Feb as he’d come down with acute laryngitis. They were quickly rescheduled for September. I can’t see any chance of me being packed into the Brixton Academy on Sept 5th with 4,500 others.

Ben Watt postponed his Royal Festival Hall the night before the date, March 14th. It’s been rescheduled for late Nov. Again, I wonder if it will happen.

The industry is in meltdown.

Everything now cancelled up until the end of July. Those shows currently scheduled for August until (at least) the end of the year are also looking increasingly precarious.

Like many others here, I have some gigs postponed from 2020 that are now rescheduled for 2021 but I am wondering if the artists, promoters and venues are taking a bit of a punt to say the least in respect of the social distancing thing and whether regulations will still be in force, and thus whether these gigs in reality will take place.

Do they know something we don’t ?

Two of my gigs for example are standing tickets at Brixton and the London O2 where in the old days we used to be fairly rammed in etc.

Kiwanuka at Brixton, sold out, 5,000 fans, originally postponed in March this year (not actually due to Covid, he was ill), rescheduled for September (optimistic), duly postponed again obviously and now reset for April 2021.

Part of me thinks artists are rescheduling in hope more than anything, they at least reserve the venue, then if gig venues can not run at full capacity, they postpone again, and the can again gets kicked down the road.

Slightly different at say Ronnie Scott’s where they are shortly to reopen and have bands lined up, but with the venue’s capacity down from 250 to 125, at least until further notice.
