Mike what is your discography?. How did you suffer through so many shows?

Devils and Joad can't be that low in the ranking. I can perhaps agree, not much happening musically there, but the stories blow my mind.

I am very grateful that the very first album mentioned was so egregiously placed, thusly saving me 25 minutes.

(Conversely, major props for mentioning the Gregory Himes book.)

((Okay, I may have skipped ahead a bit to see what else you said.))

(((Thanks for posting!)))

Can't even be bothered looking at all this again....suffice to say that anyone who doesn't have The Ghost of Tom Joad in amongst their best ever Springsteen albums really cannot be taken seriously as far as I am concerned. An absolute masterpiece of a record.

Hell yeah. A work of art matched only by Western Stars, TOL, Born To Run and Darkness in terms of its consistency and solidity of theme. Add Nebraska too. Fuck it, lash in WIESS in too.

What a body of work the guy has.

Are you saying he can't have an opinion on the music he listens to unless he's released records of his own?

You've said that many times and it's still hogwash.

At least you can have an opinion on books as you've written a few, I can't even do that

Hell, extend this theory far enough... when I test drive a car I can't have an opinion on whether I like it or not since I've never built a car?

Well, going by Gus' standard, we are both highly qualified to criticize his posts.

And why isn't the reverse true? Assuming Gussie has never written, recorded and released any music how can he judge whether Bruce is actually any good or not?

Why does a record need to be one's least favourite

Why can't it just be your 19th favourite

Kay er Sally you know what Gussie does to me. And it takes Daisey to put it just right.

if we all liked the same things musically or otherwise what a boring old world it would be.

Amen to that!

I thought it was an interesting list, with which I didn't wildly disagree. Of course, I agree with Daisey that I can have a Top 19, rather than saying something is the worst!

Thanks for the comments. I new that this would be a tough audience! That is a good point though in calling something the worst - I like that 19th favorite much better indeed. All in good fun.

Impossible for me to “rank” his albums/songs, nor do I ever feel the need.

My groupings:

-Can’t live without it;

-love, love, love it;

-love it;

-really like it a lot;

-could take or leave it;

-not my cuppa;

- actively dislike.

The vast majority of his stuff falls into the first 3 categories; Only a very few in the last two...
