Kenny Rogers RIP

Recommended Posts

Dead at 81 of natural causes...not Covid-19.

He picked a fine time to leave us.....

Country music isn't everyone's cup of tea I know, but I loved his ballads.

Lady is one of the greatest love songs ever written in my opinion....composed by Lionel Ritchie but brilliantly sung by Kenny.

Had a fantastic career......he certainly liked women, married 5 times.

RIP Kenny

R.I.P. Kenny. Like you, I love his ballads. Never saw him live but would have loved to when he was at his peak.

fuck

i think im going to cry

i don't think I'd be a Bruce Springsteen fan if i hadn't grown up with Kenny Rodgers voice and the stories in the songs he sung

but 81 is a good life and also to be surrounded by family at this time

my dad will have a whiskey ready for him as he enters the pearly gates

im not kidding about Kenny paving the way for Bruce

my family went on a road trip one school holidays to the Sth is west coast

dad forgot to pack any tapes

very unlike my dad

we had the one Kenny Ridgers GHs

to this day called the west coast tape

just listening to the same songs over and over - that's how my Bruce fandom works

it was that D&D bonus DVD that made me perserver with LINYC

i just loved the stories and western imagery

Nashville, Huston, Freehold, Dunedin - not that far apart

When artists like this pass I think it allows people to admit their like, love, respect for artists you might not normally admit to. The guilty pleasures. My mother loved Kenny Rogers.  She had his 8 tracks playing in the kitchen, cassettes in the car. I'm a sap for a good love tune and had a ton of them.

Also seemed like a good dude. Doing some cooking today on a rainy Saturday.  Got some Kenny playing on Alexa. It all comes around.

Thanks for the music and some good memories.

Dolly Parton on Kenny's passing

i hope you can watch the link but if not just imangine her voice in your head ;)

its bound to be on a million different media out there anyway

"....But I love Kenny with all my heart. My heart's broken and a big old chunk of it has gone with him today. And I think that I can speak for all his family, his friends and fans when I say that I will always love you. God bless you, Kenny, fly high. Straight to the arms of God and to the rest of you, keep the faith."

God bless you too Dolly

Heard a lot of his early stuff growing up and he had most of his crossover hits during my early teens. I have his full discography through the 80s, but I mostly listen to his stuff with the First Edition.
