RIP Big Man

Hope you’re ripping it up on your celestial sax.

Never forgotten.

We're gonna have a sort of remembrance post for Clarence on the subreddit, r/BruceSpringsteen, later today. We're gonna ask for people's favourite photos of the Big Man and then I'll collate them into one big picture

This was his last recorded piece of music or am I mistaken?Either way it's a great song with a great sax solo.

Heard Ken Bruce mention this on his show this morning, and then he played Mary's place.

RIP.

I emailed Ken Bruce this morning and asked him to play Jungleland in remembrance of Clarence. At least he played something

Listening to recordings from The Main Point show on 5 Feb 1975, to hear The Big Man playing up a storm with Bruce and the E St Band:-)

9 years - can't quite believe it! May he rest in peace.

if you want to hear Clarence Clemens in a different setting than just with the E Street Band, listen to Garcia Live volume 13 featuring Clarence Clemens, well worth buying the CD.

…and last but not least (crowd cheers) you know who I’m talking about (crowd cheers) he’s known as the master of the world (crowd cheers) the king of the universe (crowd cheers) in this corner, weighing in at 265 pounds…the undefeated champion of the world (crowd cheers) gimme a C-L-A-R-E-N-C-E, what’s that spell? (crowd: “Clarence”) what’s that spell? (crowd: “Clarence”) what’s that spell? (crowd: “Clarence”) Big Man of the horn, Big Man, Clarence Clemons on the saxophone…”

10th Av Freeze-Out: early lyrics for the song mentioned Van Zandt and had even more nods to Clarence:

Walking down the street feeling tough
And I'm running down while the Big Man blows his soul
Playing the Tenth Avenue freeze-out

Well, now, there's dealing 'bout the dealing
With some locals in some Chinatown
Yeah, I was talking 'bout them old cats
Like they're trying to put the local dudes down
When the Big Man take off his hat
Should have seen them dudes turn back
Was a Tenth Avenue freeze-out

Well everybody singing
When the Big Man joined the band
Coastline to the city
All the little pretties raise their hands
Big Man played it up
He and Miami had us shoot their shot

Tenth Avenue freeze-out

I just posted this on the next archive thread (as a follow up to a post back in Jan) - I shot this footage and have the original but this is unfortunately a 3rd or 4th gen copy (so not the greatest) but I think is worthy of sharing here "anyway" for all to enjoy the Big Man's walk out and his solo in Ties - ENJOY - RIP Clarence "Big Man" Clemons :
