Just started listening to it in HD. Wonderful show in gorgeous sound. Absolutely love it. I invested in these big headphones for shows like this. Wow.

I got the other three from this era and LINYC, do I really need this one?

It’s basically $9.95 for a decent (albeit slow) “Incident On 57th Street” and “Streets Of Philadelphia”.  I went for it, as I have a soft spot for the Reunion Tour.

Agree with you about Point Blank ..... I do not like The River's Reunion arrangement at all ..... But Point Blank IS a film noir and Clarences intro works for me .....

C was a lovelly surprise on here

But mam oh man way back when Gary brought me LINYC for Christmas because we didn't know to look in the rock section to find Bruce and Born in the USA i only knew two songs on that dvd and one was the river

The river - the entire reason why i was even thinking about the back catalogue -  Daisy the Jeep wranger was born in the USA after all

Anyway anyeay oh man when i first put it on that was not the river i had fallen in love with off the radio ...but i got used to that intro - at least i did remember who Clarence was and that he was iconic in Bruce's music

Never a fan of the River arrangement on the Reunion tour (not 29 of the 30 times I saw it anyway) but listened to July 1st show again the other day and was blown away by the musicianship of it. I remember at the time seeing it as Bruce's way of rescuing the song from the fans rather than leave it be a boorish singalong song and to draw attention to the lyrics and the arrangement made the song become less about 2 young people and more a vignette set within the context of a community/the band

You have made an excellent point that would have gone over my head when i first got LINYC - but it makes complete sence now

As I understand it, the policy only changes once a show is officially released. Even though its a different recording, its still classed as "officially released material" because its still a recording of the same performance.

I did not know this

Does this mean the crystal cat winterland radio broadcast is off limits now ? (Or just disk 1 & 2 ?;))

I just couldn't imangine fine Mr @Paolo's Circus Story ever in my wildest dreams purposely being a naughty boy and not abiding by the rules (stealing from Bruce)

I say this most sincerely

@judyg can we please have some clarity of the rules regarding shearing of bootlegs

I listened to Incident on YouTube today. Just hearing the crowd's reaction once they realize he's playing Incident is worth the purchase alone.

I'm gonna quote two key points from in here: https://www.greasylake.org/the-circuit/index.php?/guidelines/

Illegal content

We shouldn't have to tell you that we don't allow posts with illegal content. We are especially (but not only) referring to the inclusion of officially released, copyrighted audio or video files in posts.

Bootlegs

As long as Springsteen's organization seems ok with it, we allow the free trading and distribution of unofficial recordings

As I said previously, it's never been my intention to break forum rules or, most importantly, cause any trouble/hassle for anyone on here. I should have revised these rules and just used my brain (we've got them for a reason after all!) before making that request. Very sorry.

To be honest, I took the slight dressing down you got as a miscommunication... I think Judy thought you were actually requesting a copy of the new official Archive show recording, not a bootleg recording of the same show.

Although not allowing the trading of bootlegs of shows now officially released also makes sense, so maybe that was the issue.

I don't understand why the trading of unofficial uncopyrighted fan recordings is not allowed.  How does an audience recording that has been in circulation for 20 years become contraband overnight due to Nugs releasing an entirely different source?  Bootlegging and piracy are two different things.  Apples and oranges.

TIP TO BOOTLEGGERS: avoid all of this hassle and just don't use the performance date directly in the title of the bootleg B)

They were contraband to begin with ;)

I think it is very reasonable request to stop trading in contraband once there's a legal alternative.

Like a Steel Mill bootleg with a vintage Bruce -hey mama I look like Rambo!- photo from 1985 on the front cover? (Yes such things exist; or at least one does).

Or the Porn In The U.S.A. and Porn In The U.S.A. Too bootlegs?

Moving on briefly from the sins of the Circus Story...

Is it safe to presume that, with the exception of September 24th, every show (or just about) from September to November 1999 was professionally recorded/multi-tracked?

I know about the whole "they recorded in key locations" reiteration, but to have the September 25th and 30th gigs now, it just seems likely that they were recording constantly around this timeframe, doesn't it?

I believe that at some point, they just started recording everything because it was easy and they didn't have to think about it.

I think reunion they experimented, rising they tried DSD and it failed. But D&D and after they just taped everything just in case.

Makes you wonder why -as it is true- all Rising shows were recorded with the then new technology; why were some shows not recorded with 'old' technology just in case? (but maybe they did-we don't know).

I guess the pros of DSD (at the time) outweighed the cons. And digital was the way forward for everything. So it was worth a shot. Should they have gone full in on this unproven format? Probably not. Definitely not without having some backups in other formats.

Also, they probably thought that DSD was going to be the dominant format (an ultimately wrong move, like Sony betting on betamax).

Bouncing off of that. Many complain about Helsinki being the rising release, as it wasn't that good of a show. I think that they picked a mediocre show so that if it was lost, it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

It really gets on my nerves when I read those complaints.

"OF ALL THE RISING SHOWS TO RELEASE THEY RELEASE THAT ONE?!"

Yeah, because it's the only one they've actually been able to release, ffs. It's not like Mr Landau was asked Helsinki or Gothenburg and said "Fuck 'em!"

Yeah I've always thought that - it is also worth pointing out that around the time of that release people were calling for more 'normal' releases that better represented their respective tours (i.e. no guest appearances, special occasions...) - the fact that this show has something like 9 Rising tracks gave people what they wanted, and I think its a good show (but they all are, aren't they!)

Was about to totally derail this thread but will post my thoughts in the Rumours thread.

Getting back on track, then - I have yet to buy the show but I will do eventually. Just simply not listening to a lot of Springsteen at the minute and, when I do want to, I have a tonne of other shows to listen to. Plus I just don't think I get my $12.95 or whatever out of each show (I listen to a lot of music but I just can't find the time to listen to a 3+ hour show containing many similar songs). But, as I said, I love the Reunion tour and the Chicago release is one of my favourite releases yet, so I will pick this one up eventually when the Springsteen buzz kicks back into overdrive..!

Does anyone  perhaps know why the studio version of LOHAD wasn't released earlier?

You underestimate the conspiracy theory potential of this place :P

JL was probably sitting on a grassy knoll as he said it!
