Keep Me in Your Heart is a song that has dropped me to my knees, sobbing more than one time. Such a great songwriter in a different way than Bruce. I wonder which Zevon song he’ll play? In 1979, thanks to Werewolves of London, Warren Zevon was somewhat famous in Australia. Bruce Springsteen was almost unheard of. I was 14, and my older sister's husband had the Excitable Boy album, which I used to nearly wear out when I went over there. I went out and bought his earlier self-titled album and loved that even more. My voracious reading of the cover notes lead me to other artists too, like Jackson Browne and David Lindley. Some time in early 1980 I bought Bad Luck Streak in Dancing School as soon as it appeared in the record store. Reading the cover notes I straight away noticed something unusual for Warren - a co-writing credit for Jeannie Needs a Shooter. The name Bruce Springsteen seemed vaguely familiar, and the name of the song had a whimsical quality about it I liked. Later that year Australia got it's first commercial FM radio stations... and not long after that The River was released, and they played the title track... "that's that guy!!" I thought. A week later I had my copy of The River, and never looked back. Bruce didn't get much more airplay here until Born in the USA... and by that time I was 19, had discovered girls, and was far less of a music geek. Without Warren I would've missed 4 years of Bruce fandom, and would probably only have been a casual fan. Thanks Warren 2 1

I thought it would be very unlike Bruce (and very un-Catholic!) to just start by saying 'Don't waste your compassion on those who do not deserve it'. His previous sentences put it into context a little more! Is that the most he's ever said in public about you-know-who? I reckon so.

Daisey Jeep
That doesn't mean he doesn't like his conservative leaning fans His own mom may have possibly voted for Sen McCain (or Mit Romney?)
