Did the podcast from Flynn (BTX) regarding what they have on multi-track see the light of day?

I would take any River tour show from 80 or 81

It was supposed to come out but then the server crashed or whatever is going on over there. (Btw, long time BTXer. Thanks for having me aboard.)

I don't think the site going down affected the podcast.

Part 1 came out like a week or so ago and covered pre 75 (spoilers, there isn't much if any) up to Tunnel of Love.

Part 2 was supposed to come out today but there was a tech issue with the portion of the recording discussing the state of the Rising recordings.

Any soundboard pre-75 and 1976? The remaining multi-tracks are just ones we know about? One from 1978, one from 1980 and a few from 1984-1988?

Any discussion on the Amnesty shows?

Thanks!

I don't think they have anything pre-75, maybe very little.

Yeah, I think the remaining are just the ones that were recorded for Live 75-85.

I think they might have some Chas Gerber tapes, but they didn't have the money to be sending the recording trucks around

I was just wondering if they mentioned any in particular they may consider releasing like 1977. Thanks for your answers.

Another thing NUGS/INC could look in to if they need sources are IEMs.

marco2 posted this on BTX back in June 2009:

Including the rehearsal shows. At least 25 of the 29 WOAD US shows were IEM recorded.

Reunion Tour- As far As I know, there is either an IEM or ALD of every show from 9-13-99 Philly through 7-1-00 MSG except for 2 (Fargo and Louisville)

There’s a lot still in the über circles, perhaps most notably the Philly birthday show.

It'd just be fantastic if they could clean up the soundboards or combine IEM's with other sources using a professional. Of course, they could sell it...so there's that bonus versus bootlegs. Also, less hardcore fans will buy vs. scouring the internet for boots.

Not even soundboards that could maybe cleaned up? Any mention of 1976?

Some things mentioned over the years (in the Next Archive... topic on this forum), apart from Passaic 3 and shows that were sources for Live 1975-85:

The various shows recorded in December 1975 for the live album that never was. Unknown how many and which shows were recorded, except Toronto was one of them. Likely (but not sure) all 4 Philadelphia shows that closed the tour were recorded (one of them already released of course).

The late 18 October 1975 show, Roxy Los Angeles (why get the truck and all the recording equipment there for only the early show?)  Maybe some other shows of the stand too.

Berkeley 1 July 1978 (soundboard is circulating).

In the same interview where it was confirmed L.A. 20 August 1981 was not recorded, it was mentioned a 1980 show in New England was recorded. If true, could only be: Providence 11 December 1980, Hartford 12 December 1980, Boston 15 December 1980, Boston 16 December 1980. A little speculation: if indeed only 1 show, Providence or Hartford maybe more likely than Boston (why record only 1 Boston show instead of both?).

Edit: also, in the Glory Days book, Dave Marsh says there were about 40, 50 shows for consideration for Live 1975-85. So; not that many 'professional recordings', but one can assume that once the well is dry for the 70s and 80s, they can go on with soundboards.

I wonder how many of the “40,50 shows” were from the BITUSA tour? Presumably at least a quarter of them.

As we’re seemingly down to the last multitrack or two from 1984 (from a stand that’s already well represented), I’d much rather NUGS go into the two-tracks before they hit up another Meadowlands show, for example (and, yes, I know they’ve not even touched the Giants Stadium shows from 1985 yet).

Maybe BTX shutting down is Chris Phillips' answer to criticisms over Backstreets not publishing an issue of the magazine for nearly 8 years.

Here's his italicized quote from a thread about the magazine a few years ago, and my reply (which indicates the timing of his "update"):

      "btxadmin
But there will be a #92. We're talking weeks now, rather than months or years.

Updates to come as it gets closer.

        Thanks for reading —

Here's the relevant excerpt from my correspondence with Toby Scott:

How many full shows were recorded during THE RIVER  Tour?

I don’t know the exact number, I remember recording Phoenix in Nov, then some city in upper NE, then Nassau over new year, later opening Meadowlands arena (Brendan Byrne).  Beyond that I don’t remember, probably a couple in LA at Sports arena.

I can speak for the legion of die-hards who desperately want to know if the 8/20/81 Vietnam Vets Benefit was professionally recorded?

It was not.

How much recording was done during the BORN IN THE U.S.A. Tour?  I'm specifically wondering if any shows were captured in late '84 and/or early '85?

I don’t remember, not enough as far as I recall as when I was reviewing requests for the Archive Concert releases, there was a lack of material from his biggest tour.

Yes, that is the interview I meant. Upper NE, Upper New England? Which is Maine, Vermont, NH, Mass., RI, CT, right? So Boston, Providence or Hartford. Except those are more 'lower New England'; did he mean Upper New York (Buffalo or Rochester then). That is Upper NY and not Upper NE. But maybe I was reading it too literal, or not aware that Upper NE also could mean Upper New York State (or at least it seems so? I never heard or read that before). I'm really confused now...and I was also confusing others, maybe.

Meanwhile there is now the mystery if shows in Los Angeles were recorded and if so, in 1980 or in 1981 or both years. As 20 August 1981 was not recorded, let's assume only 1980. (I mean...NOT recording 20 August 1981 is already stupid enough; NOT recording 20 August 1981 BUT instead recording another show of the stand is even more stupid. Even if that one show would be 28 August 1981, also one of the greatest shows of the Summer 1981 leg (or even one of the greatest shows of the tour)).

Just checked. On page 415: 'Springsteen and Landau had access to about thirty professionally recorded shows'. On page 416: '...assessing a stockpile of shows that, with a bit of research by engineer Toby Scott, grew to fifty or sixty.'

On page 415 it is also said no shows with the [Fall] 1984 rendition of Racing In The Street where professionally recorded; but that is not news anymore by now.

That would be a wonderful mistake since Buffalo was my first show .....and Rochester was @Rosiejaneymary's first show ...... I'll take it

Yes, I knew that.:)

Taking it -again- literal, only one of you both can be the winner though.

Looking at the setlists: you got RJM's beloved Candy's Room, and RJM got your beloved Crush On You...Life is not fair...:o
