To change the subject back to the topic, was listening to Rainmaker(on a Bruce/Killers/ The National shuffle) this afternoon while doing some paperwork. I'm liking it more and more.

That's great to hear

I really love it - it does sound right off Magic

I have been listening to LTU walking home from work and it has delayed by downloading the latest offering from nugs

Guess i have time now

Anyway i have been so enjoying it

I love how it starts with one minute your hear - it reminds me of aint got you on TOL

House of a thousand guitars although most enjoyable is a bit of a head scratcher though

Power of prayer still my favourite because i just adore girls in their summer clothes

See you in my dreams still desperately sad but what's a Bruce record without some desperation in the feelings dept

Ive been glistening close my on my walks home from work

Letter to you really is pretty darn great !

I think of through out his career the lyrics and also the live performances

He wears his heart on his sleeve

Sometimes the self truth is brutel

But i have learnt so much from what he has told us from Darkness on the edge of town onwards

*******

'Neath a crown of mongrel trees
I pulled that bothersome thread
Got down on my knees
Grabbed my pen and bowed my head
Tried to summon all that my heart finds true
And send it in my letter to you

Things I found out through hard times and good
I wrote 'em all out in ink and blood
Dug deep in my soul and signed my name true
And sent it in my letter to you

In my letter to you
I took all my fears and doubts
In my letter to you
All the hard things I found out
In my letter to you
All that I've found true
And I sent it in my letter to you

I took all the sunshine and rain
All my happiness and all my pain
The dark evening stars
And the morning sky of blue
And I sent it in my letter to you
And I sent it in my letter to you

In my letter to you
I took all my fears and doubts
In my letter to you
All the hard things that I found out
In my letter to you
All that I found true
And I sent it in my letter to you
I sent it in my letter to you

With the exception of WOAD ive always been years and years behind Bruce (i mean stages in life)

But with this album i feel i have somehow caught up with him

Its scary to have people who i do not consider at all old to be passing away

I hadn't listened to the album for about 6 weeks according to my iTunes and played it twice through yesterday and I still love it. It sounded great and fresh to hear it again after a bit of a gap. I never skip any tracks as I like them all, in particular Rainmaker which I can see that quite a few of you don't like. I love how it builds and builds and then hits its peak about 2 & a half minutes in. It's a great rocking track to my ears.

Played Magic all the way through as well yesterday and still love that album,  one of his best IMHO.

I'm still listening and enjoying it.

Burnin train I love, guaranteed to lift my mood.

I'll see you in my dreams I find such an emotional song.

Ghosts a great rocker.

One minute I also love, again an emotional song for me.

Of the 3 older songs I'm not that keen on Janey but Priest and Orphans I like.

The other 5 I'd class as decent album tracks.

  • 1 month later...

Now listening -at this very moment- to Letter To You for the 3rd time this week, after neglecting it for a few weeks.

Only The Rising and Magic were better albums in the Reunion Era.
