I guess your looking for something new but Dave Alvin's From a Kitchen Table is a heartbreaking and fantastic song! The album is called Blackjack David I think.

Listening to snippets now. A bit more adventurous and bluesy than I usually go for, but I can tell it's of the highest quality.

A real possibility, if I can fight my more mainstream tendencies. Thanks!

Love Dave Alvin. He does a good version of seeds.

Go for it trust me biggrin.gif biggrin.gif They have really evolved as a band. Songline is the best use of the entire band so far. Not as guitar heavy as the previous cds & certainly a lot more vocal.

I agree, he does a bluesy version of the song.

So I should get this over...say...the new Prince? Prince sure sounds good...

I have not heard the new Prince yet, but the reviews I have read are good. But why not try a band that you have not listened to yet?

Maybe you can talk the DH into taking enough out of the vault for two cds! biggrin.gif

i like the new album by broken social scene's guitarists. can't remember his name though, and the albums back in the base.

A friend of mine sent me a cd by Broken Social Scene. It didn't do much for me, but he loves it so much that I know I should give it at least one more listen.

I'll throw out the Blasters "4-11-44" . Great cd , and they do a new version of Dave Alvin's Dry River on it . As Phil Alvin says at shows , "Here's a song I fixed for my brother." He's a crackup .

What a surprise biggrin.gif One can never go wrong with The Blasters smile.gif smile.gif biggrin.gif

Decoration Day is a great place to start with DBT. I've had Jesse Dayton's Country Soul Brother in my cd player the last couple days and think it's great. The new Dwight Yoakam is pretty good too.

So much new music...so little money.

The Blasters are always an option...one of my all-time favorite concerts was Rank and File opening for the Blasters...

Ralph, I'll check out everyone you mentioned, though a little Dwight Yoakum--at least his last couple of albums--goes a long way with me.

Decoration Day, huh? Ok.

Thanks, all...now I have more than enough to make me crazy.

One last one . Dave Alvin "Public Domain" . New interpetations of old folk songs . Strange concept , but it works great . ohmy.gif

Hey Bruce should try that!!! tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif

I don't know , his fan base is pretty set in their ways . Don't know if they'd follow that . mad.gif

Besides , with his politcal leanings he'd probably pick some old communists songbook to do . biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif
