Just wanted to add a little something to this thread... I didnt think it warrented another topic.

You can download videos from Google Video real easy, as it is a function of the player they supply.

Wanna give it a shot? Check out my blog (Just click on the link below - in my signature) and choose which video you want to see and click on the 'little box' at the bottom right of the player if you want to save a copy to your computer. I have been adding "samples" (a complete song, etc) of various DVDs that are floating around, so you may find a thing or two you will like. (Hope so). All the videos I post are downloadable. Oh - and I do update fairly often... so if you like it, check back from time to time.

(Apologies for the blog "plug", but even though Google owns YouTube, Google Video is a little different).

I use TubeSock for saving videos from youtube to my Mac itunes video library and ipod.

Tube Sock

Free trial. Then if you sign up. $15.00 it is unlimited.

I use apple computers, although I think there is a version for Microsoft windows & vista if you follow the links.

I use it a lot, good program.
Hope this is of some use.

Cheers John

Quick time realplayer does this (almost) automatically for ya. If ya close the youtube page, the video with still be there with the option to download later. It is downloaded as an .flv file so if you want to put them on cd or mp3/4 then you will have to convert. I like to just leave my on the laptop so I find it really handy...

Trouble with that it's Quicktime - fine for macs but really can screw up or slow down a windows pc.Ever tried getting rid of Quicktime - it buries itself deep in the registry.

Anyway, WM Recorder will record anything from youtube and streaming sites and as bruceaholic said above,Total Video Converter will convert any video format to another, even 3g for phones.

Hey,

I've tried a few different ways but the best free way I found was to install Firefox (awesome browser by the way) and then dowload the Youtube downloader from here-

http://blog.arpitnext.com/youtubemp/

It will create a little link on the youtube video page, give it a click, choose a location to save and you're downloading the file as an mp4 (so playable on both windows and the mac).

Hope you found that useful

Matt

Use Firefox, install add-on Downloadhelper & start saving the flv/mp4-files to your harddrive :P

It's all free, that's the best thing about it.
Downloadhelper is constantly updating, and firefox updates it's installed addons.
Can't get any easier than that.

Firefox: http://www.mozilla.com
Downloadhelper: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006
