Martin wrote: I was there. It was the first time I had seen Bruce Springsteen perform. I had picked up Born To Run shortly after it came out on the recommendation of a friend who was my aesthetic guide on what to see, what books to read, what music to listen to. I was driving down the DVP (a highway that runs north and south in the east end of the city) in the fall of 1975 and saw a sign advertising his appearance at Seneca. But I decided to do something else that evening...to my everlasting regret. I liked Born To Run a lot...but after that November evening in 1978, after a three and a half hour show at Maple Leaf Gardens, I was transformed. I don't think I listened to anyone else's music for a good six to eight months. Just played the four albums he had released up to that point in time...listened to a bootleg of a concert he gave in Cleveland which CHUM-FM here played the night after he performed at the Gardens. I've been following him for thirty-one years and he's been a profound inspiration on my life.
