Kerry Peace wrote: I was a senior at SIU when this show came around. It was a typically volcanic Springsteen performance, with two things standing out in my memory. One was that Springsteen was playing more and more lead guitar and seemed to be looking over at Van Zandt during his solos with a kind of "check out what I can do now" look on his face. The other was his playing of "Who'll Stop The Rain" and his dedication of the song to John Lennon, who had been killed a couple of months earlier. He prefaced the song by saying something along the lines of "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for John Lennon."
