An allegedly good source with a direct connection to an E Street Band member claimed this last week that Bruce and the band had finished recording an album in Atlanta. The material is said to be all new with no studio versions of previously released songs such as "American Skin" and "Land of Hope and Dreams". The source also said that the band was planning to do a few benefit shows in the spring and then embark on a full scale late summer/early fall tour after the album is released. As usual,.... While Bruce may take a long time to release his songs, other artists continue to dig into his catalogue and find inspiration. Some of the latest Bruce songs released by other artists include Hank Williams III (grand son of Hank Williams) doing a cover of "Atlantic City" on his latest album Lovesick, Broke & Driftin'. Canadian folk artist Howie Beck has a version of "I Wish I Were Blind" on his new album Maybe I Belong, and finally the reissue of Steve Earle's classic album Guitar Town will.... Read more

Not much news is getting out from the ongoing recordings in Atlanta. This week an Atlanta newspaper reported that all rumors of Bruce recording in the city were false. Of course, fans didn't fall for that as Bruce has been seen at the Southern Tracks studio, and later in the week another newspaper confirmed the story. And if that isn't enough, Nils Lofgren himself has now admitted in a radio interview that sessions have been going on, but that it was supposed to be a secret. Well, it ain't a.... Read more

The rumor we posted the other day about Bruce and the E Street Band recording in an Atlanta studio have turned out to indeed be true. Moreover, it has been disclosed that producer Brendan O'Brien is involved in the sessions, which would be the first time since Darkness Bruce has included an "outsider". Brendan O'Brien has produced Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots, which suggests a more hard rocking sound than what we've been used to. The sessions take place in the Southern Tracks Studios in.... Bruce showed up last night to celebrate his old friend and bandmate Clarence Clemon's birthday at the Foxwood Casino in Connecticut. Wearing his old battered Dolphins cap, he joined the party on stage in front of only about 200 lucky people. He helped out on "Raise Your Hand", "Pink Cadillac", "Mustang Sally" and "Glory Days". Also present on stage was BB.... Read more

An opera based on Bruce Springsteen's songs? Why not? Pretty soon it will be a reality according to Variety. The two directors, Darrel Larson and Stephanie Kerly Schwartz, have received permission from Bruce to proceed with the plans of turning his music into an opera or musical titled "Drive All Night". No word on when it will premiere to the public, but Bruce himself will be present at a reading of the material sometime in March. Read more on CNN.... Read more

Did Bruce Springsteen finish an album with the E Street Band a few weeks before the holidays? That's what we hear from one source whose reliability we cannot vouch for. Of course, it sounds interesting, but with the complete lack of rumors in this regard, we must put it in the "unlikely" category. Perhaps more reliable is the word from the same source of an attempt to get Bruce to do an acoustic show at the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of fame in Cleveland this year. The Hall of Fame has allegedly tried.... Read more
